Format: Paperback
I have several books on Sunbonnet Sue, this is amongst my favourites. The shape varies from the one commonly seen, but is none the less delightful. One quilt consists of 12 redwork blocks with red and white sashing and borders - Sue is embroidered in many activities following events during a typical year, ice skating, watering the garden, holding a pumpkin etc. An alternative presentation shows the same idea in applique with a slightly different shaped Sue.
One fun quilt is a cut-out dress up doll, with her clothes around her, complete with the tabs, this is all done in applique, another is made up of nine-patch blocks, with a row of Sue's around the edge, each is connected by a "ribbon" ( rather like children holding a skipping rope ).
The book is well illustrated and very easy to follow, it's the kind that makes you want to start something straight away, and gets you searching through your stash for suitable fabric. A fresh interpretation of an old favourite.

Sunbonnet Sue has many profiles illustrated in this volume. Sue is always happy, oftentimes hardworking, and fun. I was looking for some variety from the one that has been used in my family.

Love this book. Too many good ideas for me to pick which project to do. Absolutely love the diagrams and the helpful resources in the book are too many to mention. I used some of the patterns for a quilt for my granddaughters.

quilt book 1 May 2013
By Sheila Bossom - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Eleven projects in this book. There is redwork (or bluework), crayon coloring, applique and piecing. Most are wall quilts and small projects. Some seasonal, a cute mix of projects. Paper-doll quilt and sweetpea and pansies are two projects in the book.
