5.0 out of 5 stars I'll read the billing more carefully next time! 25 April 2013

Like many other readers I too did not realise this was a children's book but, to be fair, it is clearly located by Amazon in the Children's Book Section. Having got over that hurdle this little book is well presented with some nice illustrations and is readable by an adult if you accept it is a light-hearted read. I read it in a short while and found it quite amusing and uplifting. This book will now be doing the rounds amongst a number of children I know. In the context of a children's book I'd recommend this book on the basis of both content and presentation. It's also a tribute to the versatility of Mr McCall-Smith that he writes with such credibility for adult and child readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars a delightful read for young and old alike. 10 Nov 2013
By Cloggie Downunder TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
The Mystery of Meerkat Hill is the second Precious Ramotswe Mystery for Young Readers by popular British author Alexander McCall Smith. In this instalment, young Precious befriends two newcomers to her school, a sister and brother named Teb and Pontsho, and is rewarded with an introduction to their novel pet. Her second case has her tracking down the family's missing cow, but her ingenuity does not end there: she employs an innovative method of getting the animal back to its owners. Once again filled with charming illustrations by Iain McIntosh, as well as a recipe for mouth-watering fat cakes, this is a delightful read for young and old alike.

This is exactly how I would have imagined Mma Ramotse as a child. This book would be a good entry into the detective stories world for a youngster.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is for children 25 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
A great introduction to Precious Ramotswe for children. I was slightly confused when I downloaded the book onto my Kindle as I had not fully realised it was for children! It is a gentle and helpful way of introducing the lady detective to be.
