Preacher is simply the best introduction to the graphic novel genre,

For newcomers or comic book fans this is a must have series. This legendary comic book series is a must have. At this point we have to make one thing clear Garth Enis is a master story teller and there is no where better then in this collection is this more apparent. These collection of stories follow the lives of a preacher who renounces his religion, who is given the power to get people to do anything he wants by just asking, his girl friend who is stone cold dead eye shot and a vampire that they befriend on the way. we travel with these three unlikely heroes on there journey of self discovery. as cheesy as that sounds this is a an absolute must read and should be a part of anyone's collection.

I really wish I could discover this book again for the first time. Now with this new series of hard cover volumes new readers have an opportunity to collect this title in this superbly presented format. If you have an interest in comics but can only afford to buy the stuff you are pretty sure you are going to like then this is as safe a title as any I can think off. The story is sharp and at times funny and the art is sublime throughout. The 90's was a pretty poor decade when it came to comics, this title with Gaiman's Sandman and Robinson's Starman were one of the few shining lights of that time. Buy it enjoy it then re read it again. It is that good!

This is a must have. A crazy roller coaster of a tale that surprises, shocks and disturbs at almost every turn. Hysterically funny, interspersed with some of the most moving and disturbing moments ever put to paper. Quite simply a masterpiece in storytelling.
