4.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to Irish archaeology. 10 Feb 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Well presented introductory book. Good photographs and clear, uncomplicated text which is suitable for the lay reader or undergraduate students. There is surprisingly good detail on artefacts and sites for a modest-sized book. The book is not formally referenced, however this is an advantage for a general book since this prevents the lay-reader being put off. Nevertheless, Harbison does attribute findings and there is a good bibliography attached.

Well worth a place on any bookshelf for such a modest price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book! 6 Feb 2004
By Chesapeake - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is written by an expert in the field in Irish archeology and it should be read by anyone who wants to know the truth of pre-Christian Ireland. Harbison's descriptions of the ancient artifacts, the tombs, the gold, the jewelry, are excellent for the information he gives on early Irish life. The Irish Bronze Age is particularly interesting. Although maybe not written for a general reader it is a great book to have for accurate and informed reference. I highly recommend it.
