Transforming Your Life by Praying the Scriptures 28 Sept. 2008
By Richard R. Blake - Published on
Format: Paperback
"Praying the New Testament" is a compilation of Town's four paraphrased New Testament works published previously. Praying the Gospels, the Book of Acts, the Letters of the apostle Paul, the Epistles, and praying the book of Revelation are now all under one cover.

A quick look at the table of contents prepares the reader for the journey ahead and becomes the guide book for an exciting spiritual adventure in prayer and inspirational reading for the days, weeks, and months ahead.

The personal prayers interspersed throughout the narrative and the "My Time to Pray" opportunities and the "Your Time to Worship" prayers are especially rich. I also enjoyed the introductory information at the beginning of each of the New Testament books. They provided well researched and skillfully crafted background information that gave me fresh insights into my devotional study.

"Praying the New Testament" is an excellent resource for family devotions or for personal meditation. This one volume compilation gives a fuller picture of the plan of praying the scriptures and makes the New Testament come alive as you pray your way through the book day by day.

Disappointing 12 Jun. 2013
By Voracious Reader - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I was so disappointed in this book, I didn't finish it. In order to be compelling, it is too fictionalized. For example, it told of Joseph having a dream of a table that wasn't level, and he couldn't fix it just before the angel told him to take Jesus to Egypt to avoid Herod. When it was time to go back to Israel, he had the same dream, but this time Jesus fixed it. And, Zechariah would not have used a slate and chalk to write when he couldn't talk. The book also had unnecessary commas and imcomplete pairs of quotation marks. I was looking forward to reading an account of the New Testament woven together, so the repeated stories only occurred once, but there is too many events added in this account that's not in the Bible. It should be listed in the fiction category, not the non-fiction.
