Product Description

Product Description

Translated from Julian of Norwich. A 14th Century Mystic. The Prayers are a reflective translation of the sixteen revelations from God imparted to Julian of Norwich that define the Trinty, the Personification and the association between God and man's higher entity, with infinite discernment and benevolence. After experiencing the "Revelations" Mother Julian spent twenty years in reflection. After being imparted with "innermost enlightenment" she wrote her longer version of eighty-six chapters. It describes the rise of man's higher entity towards God; the various stages of the devotional life; the undertaking imparted by God in this evolution; and Mother Julian's perspective in consideration of God. In brief the book is a translation into prayer reflecting on the sixteen revelations of benevolence imparted to Mother Julian of Norwich by Jesus Christ in the fourteenth century.

Lord Jesus Christ in your passion, thorns like a wreath were pressed down on your blessed head. This was your crown, which made your precious blood seep from the God made man; you suffered in this way for us.

Lord Jesus, you want to appear to us in your Passion. In your presence there is always the Trinity. Lord Jesus, through this presence you want to swell our hearts with your unfathomable devotion now and for eternity. God is in this presence, our creator and guardian, the Trinity is our infinite devotion, rapture and blessedness, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus, we should be engulfed with amazement, that you, so divine and wondrous, would come into our presence, we who are so unrighteous in our shameful temporal bodies.

Lord Jesus, in this presence when we are tempted, you give us enough fortitude to empower us to defy all the demons of the dammed and every spiritual temptation.

Lord Jesus, you want us to see our blessed Lady as she was in her human body, a pure meek virgin, hardly more than a child was. You also want us to know of her insight and devotions. She has emotions of adoration before her God and Creator. We need to appreciate her absolute fascination that the Creator should be born from her, someone so humble, whom God had made.

Through this enlightenment, dedication and wisdom of God's glory and the modesty of her negligibility, makes her a true servant of the Lord. You want us to know Lord Jesus that assuredly in benevolence and righteousness she is greater to the entirety of God's creation, save the greater benevolence of you Lord Jesus, our blessed saviour and friend. Amen.

Prayers from Revelations of Divine Love is a thoughtful introduction to the work of Dame Julian of Norwich. David McDermott has obviously spent a great deal of time with Julian's work and has written a fine book of prayer reflecting Julian's unique approach to God, the world and her fellow Christians. Each entry begins with a brief synopsis of a chapter of Revelations of Divine Love and then is followed by a prayer written in
response to Julian's thoughts and writings.
This book would make a fine companion to any study or discussion group of Julian's work as well as a comforting bedside volume.
