4.0 out of 5 stars As good as you're likely to get., 19 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Although the depictions of the characters probably dont match how you see them in you head, the illustrations are colourful and as damn near as you could get seeing that everyone has different visions of the legendary characters in their minds. I would have liked to see more original pictures instead of the book covers, otherwise I would have given this the full 5 stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just my opinion..., 29 Dec 2004
By A Customer
Now maybe it's just me, but I was very disappointed with this calender. I got it for christmas and I have found that I don't really like most of the pictures. It is probably just that I've got used to the old style although I like Paul Kidby's illustrations. The main problem is that the drawings are nothing at all how I imagine the characters to be. They have been done by various artists and I don't especially like any of them.

So just a warning really - don't buy it unless you have seen the pictures already!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent calendar with stunning imagery, 27 Dec 2002
By M. Dovey "Son of Santa" (England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Due to the sad loss of Josh Kirby in 2001, this calendar is now illustrated by no less than 7 different artists (still including a cover by Josh Kirby, though). Therefore, unlike previous calendars, a lot of this work is seen here for the first time. The pictures are very beautiful, although frequently different in styles to each other - this lack of unity will either count for or against it, dependng on your tastes. As a result of these differing styles, some of the characters turn out differently to expectations - certainly Stoneface in January looks "wrong", and the picture of Susan Sto Helit in December looks slightly off to me (although the other image of her looks wonderful) - but in the end, these are down to personal taste. A wonderful calendar with some gorgeous imagery, and certainly my favourite of the Discworld calendars to date.

2.0 out of 5 stars So Disappointing on Previous Years
Normally, I look forward to the Discworld calender, but the 2006 version is way below standard. Have the artists become complacent in the quality? Read more

This wasn't what I expected - it's better! A huge calendar with some top-quality illustrations which portray some favourite Discworld scenes really well. Read more

I know it's out of date now, but buy it for the pictures! I have them all up around my room and they are all brilliant!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as it could have been.
While there are several interesting drawings in this calender, I can't help feeling that it would have been preferable if only Paul Kidby's artwork had been used. Read more
