Very compact, and decent magnification for terrestrial viewing (these are not stargazing binoculars). The zoom is very handy although at the maximum, even with best focus, the image is not entirely sharp. However at the price and given its compact nature it would get 5 stars, except that it lost one star from my review when the left eye focus showed itself up to be flimsy and it unscrewed instead of focusing, ie there is uncertainty about the quality of the casing and optic parts which meant I had to return this under warranty for a replacement which seems to have been fine up to now, though it does get used with caution. The budget price is definitely due to the lighter materials used for the casing, which does mean it may not withstand knocks and drops when outdoors.

    Excellent value 29 Oct 2010
These are an excellent buy. They are very clear and reasonably bright at 8x magnification; however, as you would expect, things get rather darker and a bit less sharp as the magnification is increased. By the time you get to 21x the image is less sharp, but then it is hard to hold still at that magnification anyway.
They are really nice to use: feel better made than you could expect at the price, and focusing is smooth and easy. They are nice and compact, the sort of thing you could easily keep in your car, rucksack or wherever and thus score over more expensive and larger binoculars in that you might well have these with you when you actually need them, which is always more useful than the fine pair you have left at home.
They come with a useful pouch which would attach to your belt (don't think I would) or rucksack strap perhaps.
I think they are a good balance between being too cheap and cheerful (I have a pair like that and wish I hadn't...) and so valuable that you worry about getting them wet, nicked or lost.
In summary, I'm very pleased with them and recommend them, but don't get too excited about the 21x end of the scale: they are much nicer at 8x.

I've owned several types of these reverse porro mini zoom binoculars, but this has been the best - better than much more expensive models such as the Praktika 10-30x30, and FAR better than the Praktika 18-100x30.

Images are clear, as bright as can be expected, and eye relief is good. The focussing is smooth and easy.

I can really reccomend these as a small handy lightweight binocular for travelling, with a powerful zoom when you need it (x21 is around the practical maximum for this size of binocular, 21mm objectives).

    Great value.
