5.0 out of 5 stars textbook construction project management 21 May 2013
Format:Paperback
Let's face it. There is no projects in The UK which get completed on time, on budget, with great quality of work, where all the building services (specifically complex once) get commissioned properly.

We kind of hand over the project, but the fact is that it is normally months away from being ready. The building kind of work in a fashion, in kind of manual mode.

Commissioning, support and maintenance engineers spend years on site later rectifying faults and making things work the way it suppose to.

Do not get me wrong, I am part of the process and fully realise that modern complex buildings are indeed very complex to complete.

This book is a textbook on managing the construction projects, the way the things suppose to be, and in real life, it is not always the truth. It is relevant for parties involved but specifically for the clients who commission such projects.

Still wading through this tome. Put together reasonably well, with lots of useful appendices. However, it appears that very nearly every page has a grammatical error or incorrect text somewhere. This irritates me.

I needed this book for my course at Uni and it contains some decent content that is explained well. On it's own you might struggle to get to grips with some of the concepts but with a project management background this book will help cement your knowledge and offer some new insights, particularly useful as it's by the CIOB.
