This book is excellent for someone who is doing biology practicals. It explains all the main methods that are expected of students in cell biology and microbiology practicals. This book covers all the main aspects from basic laboratory techniques, such as the use of glassware, to identifying organisms with light microscopy. The book aims to increase the student's practical skills in the laboratory, which it does via well-illustrated diagrams. The information is laid out in a fashion that it is easy to access. The last section of this book covers the presentation side of science, such as oral presentations, writting up practical work and exam techniques.

This is a much-needed text for biology undergraduates. It includes detailed information on a wide range of techniques commonly used in biology. It has been invaluable to me during my first year biology course at university. The book would also be beneficial to A-level students e.g. when working on projects. Overall well worth the money as you would refer to it for years to come!
