Mari has touched the heart of a very special subject & covered it in an incredibly in depth fashion. There is everything the aspiring practitoner will need to know,(except for the "secret" symbols!) Almost every aspect of this most gentle form of healing is covered & discussed with instructive pictures to clarify the harder to describe points of position etc. A personal journey for Mari is also described & how the use of Reiki has influenced the quality of life. This book contains everything you could want for your first steps into Reiki, but is not so advanced as to exclude the layman interested in learning more about the experience of receiving, in fact the healing form itself is such a basic concept that a child could appreciate it for it's simplicity. (The fact is that children probably appreciate things on this level more than we do as "tainted" adults!) Basically a must for the would-be practitioner & a helpful guidebook & aid to those already in practise. I myself have attained Reiki 1 & 2 since aquiring this book & find it very useful to occasionally compare notes of experiences.

Practical Reiki from the Heart!

Mari Hall always the consumate teacher, has once again shown her skill and compassion in this precise and down-to-earth book about the very practical side of Reiki. The book shines with Hall's personality and depth of professional experience. For those new to Reiki, there are photos which clearly depict the technical "hands-on" aspect of a Reiki Session. Students may find a useful study guide in Chapter 10 which details the interrelatedness of the endocrine system and the energy centers (chakras) of the body. Of course such things are not *just* interesting to Reiki practitioners, but to anyone exploring "energy medicine" and on the lookout for comprehensible information. As a teacher of Reiki myself, I always like to keep a few of my favorite books on hand to share with my students --and after having read "Practical Reiki" there is no doubt that I will be keeping the book in steady supply.

My first Reiki book. Highly Recommend

This was recommended to me by a Reiki master as an excellent introduction to Reiki. I bought the book from the local bookstore and decided, based on the information in this book, that I wanted to practice Reiki.
I took Reiki I & II locally and, after much practice and healing, went on to become a Master myself. Now I recommend the book to those who show an interest in, and who want to know more about, Reiki before committing time and money to become trained in Reiki.

A no-nonsense approach to an esoteric subject

Mari Hall has done a wonderful job of presenting the intent of Reiki and the contexts through which it can be understood and practiced. I am a full-time Reiki practitioner and teacher and this is the one volume that I recommend above all others to my students.
