Second time I have bought this product, gave first one to sister in law. There is just enough advice without overloading you in science. There are nice easy charts saying which foods can be introduced at which stage, suggested menu plans to help you when you have baby addled brain. There is basic info on everything you need to know about feeding your child from brestfeeding/ formula feeding, what foods to avoid, sterilizing equipment, what equipment you may need, a few recipe ideas for family meals etc. etc.
I could go on but it is easier to say buy this book.

Note the RRP for this book is £5.99!

I haven't read many other guides on weaning so can't say how good this book is compared to others on the market, but can definitely say that it is a very useful reference guide and I would recommend it to my friends.
This book guides you on how to wean your baby from 17wks up to a year old. But you will still find lots of tips and hints if you are practising baby-led weaning or your baby is a little older than one year.

PROS
The book is well rounded with brief discussions on being a vegetarian, organic foods, food allergies etc.

There are lots and lots of very nice well laid out tables of menu plans and suitable foods at different ages. Very handy to just flip through for small chunks of information.

CONS
On the downside it is a very thin book and won't offer you much advice on trouble-shooting or alternative methods. I would have liked at least a mention of baby-led weaning for example as an option.

The weaning process seems a bit fast paced to me. e.g. from the second week the baby is supposed to be on two meals a day, eating a different new vegetable every day. I read in another guide that it is best to introduce baby to new foods slowly every three to four days and this makes more sense to me.

CONCLUSION
Great used as a general guideline and for breadth of knowledge about weaning. I found out lots of useful advice and information from this book. Don't expect it to walk you through the process thought, it's not that simple.
