Product Description

Review

"This book is a revised edition that provides practical guidance and information on aspects of lambing and lamb care. It covers the major diseases and problems seen in lambs and includes chapters on ewe health, including abortion issues, preventitive methods, lambing techniques and animal welfare issues. There is new information on zoonotic infections, the handling and storage of drugs, flock health plans and consideration for organic producsers.
This book would be of interest to animal producers, veterinarians and veterinary and agricultural students.

CAB Abstracts, 2005

"The inclusion of simple diagrams and clear instruction make this a useful reference for those caring for sheep as well as students."

"The book is easy to read, well laid out and would be a useful reference book for those caring for sheep."
Irish Veterinary Journal, 2005

"All sheep practices should have a copy and advise their sheep clients like–wise. If the information within this book were implemented on all sheep enterprises, the welfare of lambs would be significantly improved."
Veterinary Record, 2005 --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

I have a commercial flock and am always on the lookout for new books that may have a little something new, up to date or old fashioned, you know, how to keep the costs down , anyone with enough common sense knows to change a needle regularly, how about a sharps bin we use one! No real mention of giving peritoneal jabs, flow chart great, or how to help the ewe who has ring womb ( ring the vet), now i know that farming is on the decline but it seems the same answer --- get your vet. as a book for beginners great, for use old timers a shame

Useful book for the shepherd 1 Feb 2007

This book provides a good, concise overview of health issues of lambs and pregnant ewes. Though written for a British audience, much of the book applies to North American sheep as well. Very useful pictures and straightforward information, including likely prognoses...always helpful when managing an ill animal.
