Product Description

Product Description

Eczema can be a devastating condition, yet friends, family and even healthcare professionals dismiss it. How many times do you hear others say it is only eczema. Yet they are wrong, eczema ruins lives. Your child is suffering, they are not sleeping, you are not sleeping. Everywhere you turn there is different advice – it is food allergy, it is a clothes allergy, use steroids, don’t use steroids. The internet, health professionals and book shops are full of often contradictory advice of what to do. Why is this book any different?

I am a doctor who has spent my career specialising in and treating children with eczema. I am also a father of two children with eczema. As much as I have learned from my professional career it is only since having my own children that I have truly understood how overwhelming eczema can be. This book balances the professional ‘ideal’ ways of treating eczema against the practicalities of doing this in real life. There are hints, tips and practical solutions to everyday situations and answers to all the commonest questions parents ask me.

This book is purposefully short and pragmatic, so it can be read quickly and the eczema can treated properly as soon as possible. If you follow the advice in this book your child will get better and they will stay better. It may not be easy but you will be amazed how much better your child can be and how much this will improve your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars An invaluable text. 10 April 2014

This book was recommended by a friend who knew that I'd developed eczema in my mid 60s and thought that I'd find it useful - she was right!
The text is accessible - clearly organised and written - and the content extremely helpful. Practical advice about what works well and what to avoid is obviously based on the author's considerable professional and personal experience, and reference to medication and other products by name is proving invaluable. The tone throughout is reassuring yet realistic.
The book represents excellent value for money, and I strongly recommend it not only to the parents of affected children, but to anyone suffering from this condition.
Thank you, Dr Halpern!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent well written guide to treating eczema 7 April 2014

Written in an understandable and clear way, this book explains what eczema is and how best it can be treated. I have followed the advice given and found a great improvement in my sons eczema. There is so much rubbish advised on the internet it is great to have clear, scientifically researched information and advice from a doctor who specialises in the area of eczema. Highly recommended to anyone who has eczema or has a child with eczema.

I found this book extremely informative, compared to browsing on the internet. Funny enough, I recommended it to my GP, who told me that it's a very useful book.

I really appreciated the straight forward writing in this book and the no nonsense approach to dealing with eczema. We discussed many of the tips outlined in the book with our doctor and after approval, we started using them. We have seen improvement with I am truly thankful to be able to report.
