This is an excellent, well written book. I have just finished a placement and have found the care planning process less daunting having read this book and used it as a guide.
Each chapter is introduced with a section on what we can expect from it, and finishes with a summary of what we should have learned. We are then presented with a set of self-assessment questions to test our own understanding of the chapter. Throughout each chapter there are a number of activities to enhance our learning, and also a number of `practice points' to test how we would implement what we learn in our own practice. There are also a number or very relevant `hot topics' which make us think about the role of health and care planning in society and its broader implications.
The book is finished with a very useful glossary of terms that are used throughout, a list of recommended reading, websites for further information, and an appendix containing practice sheets and audit checklists.
This book is very easy to read, very thorough and very well layed out. The number of visual aids is very much in proportion to the text, and enhances the learning process. I would recommend it to class mates and colleagues.
