Brilliant book !! 16 Dec 2011
By sk123
Format:Hardcover
This book takes you from a beginner to an intermediate level. A must for any one preparing for certification in SAP BI7, will save you many hours searching through internet. This book is around 650 pages where as the official SAP certification material is over 3000 pages. Explanations are thorugh and where necessary illustrated by examples.

This is by far the best SAP BI 7.0 book out there. Having spent thousands of pounds on class room training and bought all the recommended texts by the instructor, I still didn't feel super confident about BI until I invested in this book.

This book is only one I've found so far that really addresses the issues you need to know about SAP BI. It is a "no frills hands on" text book. I still can't understand how the instructure missed this one out.

I am pleased as a punch that I got it.

A Practical Guide to SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse 7.0 5 May 2011
By Faisal - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This books is an excellent resource for any one starting in SAP BW/BI. However there are certain issues that I would like to point out.
1. Chapter 6 requires you to have a planning cube for practice which is created in chapter 12. So in order to follow the chapter properly you would need to skip to chapter 12 and then come back.
2. BI content and generic extraction which are by far the most important topics are not explained in detail. I would think that BI content should have LO Extractions from beginning to the end.
On the plus side, this book is very detailed and explains all the crucial data ware housing design principals. Right in the beginning you will learn how to design inobjects, infocubes and DSOs. The data loading is explained in detailed. There is also detailed information on how to get started with reporting and a nice bonus area that shows how to pull data into Business Objects Universe.
Anyone with little training and/or experience in SAP BI will find this book extremely useful.

Great book! 4 Oct 2010
By T. Johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I am a veteran data warehouse expert, but I am encountering BW for the first time. This book is only one I've found so far that really makes sense. It's laid out in a clear, readable fashion. It begins with the basics and then proceeds in a very logical way to explain what you need to know about BW. I am very happy with this book, thank you and well done!

This books is great for any one starting to learn SAP BI system.

But BI content, generic extraction, SAP ECC source extraction detail are lacking. Otherwise this book cover all topics in setp-by-step
