Practical Elemental Magick purports to be a practical guide to working with the four elements in the Western mystery tradition and that is exactly what it is. There are very few books written on the subject and none that I have found to date to be as well researched and clearly defined as this book.
Of course no book can contain all the information there is on a subject, if that was the case no more books would ever need to be written. However, the authors provide the information in this volume in a non-denominational manner, something I like about their work. This is not a book aimed at any one magical order or tradition and as such it would benefit anyone interested in exploring the four elements from a practical perspective who wants to understand the history of what they are doing. Another thing I like about the work of these authors, evident in their work in this book and others, is that they don't rehash material from other books. Where as other authors may have compiled material from the various magical orders, such as the Golden Dawn, giving their interpretations and adaptations, they present fresh research and fresh ideas.
In fact the information in this volume contains research which will help those of us who have trained in the traditional schools of magic to question our motives and our practices, thereby learning to deeper our understanding of the mysteries. As in the first book in this series this book contains many original exercises and meditations which are unique to the authors, yet based in a solid understanding of magic and the mysteries.
This book is one I will recommend to newcomers to ceremonial magic, pagan practices and witchcraft, all of which forms part of the Western Mystery Tradition. I would also recommend it to open minded experienced magicians wishing to expand their knowledge base and experience, something we can all do from time to time.
A great volume.
