Product Description

For short undergraduate courses in Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) Circuits.

From basic electricity through direct and alternating current circuits, this down-to-earth study on the world of electricity makes the subject come vividly alive for students as it builds upon Cook's highly praised “practical learning approach”—featuring historical success stories, guided examples, concept analogies, actual circuit applications, device testing, circuit troubleshooting, and much more. Finely-tuned, carefully tested, and exceptionally student-friendly throughout, Practical Electricity, 2/E meets the needs of those beginning their training or expanding their career skills as they prepare to enter today's dynamic electronics industry.

From the Back Cover

Practical Electricity, Second Edition, is the first of the "Practical Series" texts by Nigel P Cook. It is designed for a one-semester course in DC/AC Circuits. The previous edition has been used in a variety of settings vocational/technical programs, community colleges, and four-year universities: The text's flexibility derives from its practical and clear approach to the fundamentals of DC/AC Electricity. For programs that offer an Electronic Devices course following the DC/AC Circuits course, Practical Electronics, Second Edition, is also recommended.

Features of the text include:
  • Four-color text design and artwork to help students visualize key concepts.
  • Review questions at the end of each chapter subsection to reinforce topics.
  • Realistic art renderings of circuits and electronic equipment to bridge the lecture and laboratory experience.
  • A FREE on-line student guide, which can be found at http://www.prenhall.com/cook.

Practical Electricity - indeed it is 7 Mar 2006
By David Goodman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This is a great book. I discovered it in the Purdue Eng. Library while studying for a test. It really explained the material in a down to earth manner. The understanding I gained help me to know the concept, now I just need to work on the math. If Mr. Cook would write a book on Calc. and Diff. Eq. I'd be set.
