John Morris's book should be on your reading list if you are about to embark on a data migration project. Whether you are a consultant, a project manager or the business owner procuring resource for a migration it is essential reading.

The book highlights areas for the data migration practitioner to consider. It covers key topics such as data quality rules, data stakeholders and non-functional requirements. There are anecdotes and hints throughout the book.

In effect the book is a high level map of data migrations. It details the points of interest along the route of any data migration. As with any map it does not tell the reader how to implement their journey. Those looking for a guide that will tell them how to perform their migration will be disappointed.

This book is superb. At last someone has created a compelling roadmap of straightforward concepts for any company looking to embark on the rocky road of data migration.

Having worked in this field for many years I'm constantly surprised at the lack of clear, concise literature available to help technicians and managers deliver successful migrations. Thankfully John Morris has created a highly readable and comprehensive guide to fill this gaping void.

This book is a must-have guide for ETL developers, data analysts, delivery managers, business stakeholders, data quality analysts and business analysts alike - basically anyone involved in the data migration process need to carry this book in their 'toobag' at all times.

It offers many anecdotes which really enforce the importance of the authors approach and hopefully teach those new to the industry the importance of preparation and the need for a structured roadmap.

Can't recommend this book highly enough, excellent throughout.

This book is probably the only consistent Data Migration handbook in the market. Although it does *not* cover too much technical details, it provides an excellent overview of data migrations, what problems you should expect to see, how to tackle them & generally how to structure your project.

Overall it greatly assisted me in my first large-scale data migration I would definitely recommend it!
