Book Description

THE STORY OF A MODERN DAY SAINT

Your Ever Well Wisher tells the story of a remarkable individual and a remarkable achievement. The individual is A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada: philosopher, scholar, religious leader and saint. The achievement is the revolutionary transplanting of a timeless spiritual culture from ancient India to the western world of the twentieth-century.

The story begins in Calcutta in 1896 with the birth of Abhay Charan De (Srila Prabhupada). As a young college student and a supporter of Gandhi, he meets his spiritual master, who requests that he take up the mission of respiritualizing human society. After a lifetime of preparation, in 1965 Srila Prabhupada journeys alone to America, carrying with him only the Indian equivalent of five pounds, having no institutional backing or moral support, but a bold determination to do the impossible. Into the turmoil of mid-sixties New York suddenly came an elderly, golden-skinned, saffron robed holy man from India, bringing with him a vision of a new kind of society - a bold vision calling for a radical transformation of human consciousness from everyday materialism to the loftiest spiritual and ethical idealism. The seed he planted took immediate root in America. From there the seed sprouted and blossomed into an international spiritual movement that has had a profound influence on the contemporary world.

Format:Hardcover
Someone told me that to be great read the biographies of people who are great and learn. I read many biographies searching for that inpsiration which would take me to new heights, then I came across this book and I realised that 'This is where its at'.

I love this book because I can dip into it when I am down and realise that my struggle are the size of an ant. This book is the biography of a highly evolves spiritual leader from india and the insights shared herewith puts him up there with Martin luther king and Gandhi.
