Powertraveller Solarmonkey Adventurer Solar Portable Charger:
The solarmonkey adventurer is a slim-line, portable solar charger with an integrated lithium-ion polymer battery, capable of giving you up to 2 full charges on an iPhone or smartphone, a GPS up to 3 times, as well as being able to charge virtually any other 5V device.
The solarmonkey adventurer will charge any device that can be recharged via USB i.e. smartphones / iPhones, iPods, e-readers, GPS, handheld games consoles and will even give a 25% charge on an iPad / tablet – virtually any small handheld device. To charge your Apple device, simply use the Apple-supplied white sync / charge cable directly into the USB socket.
To work out the voltage of your device:
If your device is charged via a USB socket (either directly into a computer socket or via a USB AC power plug) – the maximum voltage of your device will be 5 Volts, therefore the solarmonkey adventurer is perfect.
Battery Capacity and Charge Times:
The solarmonkey adventurer has an integrated 2500mAh lithium-ion polymer battery and when charging your device from the battery only (say at night), this will output power at the same rate as if you were charging your device from AC mains power. The solar panels will recharge the internal battery in 8-12 hours.
One of the features of the solarmonkey adventurer is that it can simultaneously charge the integrated battery via the solar panels, whilst it is charging a device via the USB port.
Stylish and Compact Design:
Weighing just 265g, the solarmonkey adventurer is lightweight and the neat, folding design means that it is perfect for even the most space-conscious of users. Made from high quality, rugged materials, this compact solar charger is also water and shock resistant shell so can take quite a few knocks and spills.
Complete with a bespoke, travel case that features an insulation layer from -10 to 90°C, as well as a handy carabiner, the solarmonkey adventurer can be attached to backpacks and tents to soak up the sun.
Who’s It Suitable For?
If you’re looking for a space-saving, lightweight portable solar charger for your small 5V devices, then the solarmonkey adventurer is for you. Perfect for beach holidays, hikers, runners, camping trips or if you just can’t be without your must-have gadgets, the solarmonkey adventurer offers you real solar power on the go.

First of all it's important to mention that the first one I received had a slight problem - the USB input cover wouldn't snap into place and stay in place.
I sent it back to Amazon and the next morning I had a brand new one in the post - that's what I call service.
The new one does not have this problem, the cover works perfectly, so it must have been a faulty one off device.
OK so about the product...
I am impressed with the build quality- it feels very well made and rugged, all the connecting cables are well made and snap together securely.
The clam-shell design fabric case is made from very tough backpack nylon type material, on the top and bottom ends there are large loops to allow you to hang this to catch the sun, for instance on your backpack as you walk.
the pouch also has three 'slots on the sides of the push so you can fasten it to your belt etc.
The pouch is opened and closed with a big chunky zip, much better than smaller fiddly ones which catch the material or break.
the device itself also feels really well made, covered in ribbed non-slip black rubberised plastic.
The design, like all good design, is really simple - there are no buttons, no screens, just a single light - green=charged, red=charging, when you are charging a device the light is off, that's it.
It was sunny today so as soon as I got it out the box I opened it up and put it in the sun, straight away the light turns red, when the clouds come, the light goes out.Read more ›
I can't judge on how well it works with iPad as I don't own one but for mobile it's been really useful and it's a high quality product as well. It feels sturdy and have had no issues with it so far. Cables plug in and stay put too which is always a worry of mine (no wobbling to get things to charge)
It really works and I'm really impressed.
Theres different tips for many other phones or tablets is nicely arranged on the bottom of the box in a good firm foam.
Worth every pound spent. Iv now most of the gorilla and power monkey products and I'm very happy with all the solar and charging products. There all worth every pound and made so well EVERYONE!!
🔌The only draw back I have with there products is that they say there devices have a coated rubber on them. It's not the case' it's some sort of pray coating. Very nice to the touch! But if you drop or bang the unit it will mark badly if dropped on a hard floor like concrete! So I'm trying to make sure that I get some sort of protective cases. Some of the products do come with cases. But if no Protection cases with the product
Get one!! is the best way to look after your gorilla products. wish they did have a firm rubber case on them. They would be a perfect unit for the fast busy life on the go outdoors.
having said that, it is a very robust product, and the case/adapters it comes with. you couldnt ask for more
I recommend this to anyone who is away a lot and out of reach of a mains socket.
