The thing i was excited about the most was the wireless aspect which is the main selling point of this product. I wouldn't call it wireless since the mat is still plugged into the wall and it's not that convenient since every time you want to charge your iphone, you have to put the receiver on (and take it off) since it's way too bulky to leave on all the time. It's an alright product but the only thing it's good for is not having a cord to your phone.

The mechanism works very well and is certainly very pleasing to use.

There are three drawbacks:
- the induction mechanism on the back of the iphone skin does protrude quite a bit. It also adds quite a bit of weight.
- the bottom of the iphone skin presents a micro-usb socket which is fine until you want to plug in any other accessories such as an FM transmitter.
- once the phone has charged, the charging mat will turn itself off to save power until the phone runs down to about 97% and turn itself back on again. This is great unless you're sleeping next to it and forgotten to put the phone on silent!

knowing what I know now, would I buy one? tricky...

Although it is meant for the iphone 3rd generation, I use it to charge my ipod Touch 4th gen using an ipod 3rd gen receiver case which I happened to have and which fits my ipod very well. Charging is much faster than connecting to my PC. The mat plugs into your electric supply and when in use two white LED lights come on when charging is in progress and when the ipod is fully charged the unit stops charging and turns itself off. The receiver case is magnetic so when you drop it onto the charging mat it locks into place so to speak. There are of course other ways to charge your iphone or ipod that are alot cheaper but if you want to do so wirelessly this is a good way to do it.
