Leandro Demetrios, self made billionaire banker , was abandoned by his single mother when he was six years old, growing up in a care home he promised himself not let the same fate befall any child. As handsome as he was rich he was labelled a playboy because he did not commit to the superficial hordes of women that flocked after him for his money. Deep down as a Greek he believed in love and untainted purity of womanhood. One day while visiting a remote farm to assess a business investment, he clasped his eye on a farm-girl, Mille who was climbing through hay to save some kittens. Her heart of gold, lack of vanity and of course her long legs had Leandros vowing to make her his wife. Following a whirlwind courtship and romance Mille and Leandros were married. Three months after, Mille took off convinced that her husband was having an affair with her sister, on the strength of a flimsy evidence. She gave him no hearing, found him guilty without trial and left.
A year on Millie's sister was dead and had dumped her baby on Leandros, announcing to the world that he was the father. Leandros gave the baby a home and refused to explain himself to the media, to the media his actions and silence confirmed his guilt. Millie on finding out about the baby through the media circus steals back into Leandros house late one night to demand he hand over her nephew, a baby she believed to be the product of an affair between her sister and her husband. Leandros demands were simple; she can care for the baby if she returns as his wife and gave their marriage a chance.
I think it should have been more aptly titled, `Powerful, loving, romantic Greek, whinny and extremely insecure wife'. Millie was whinny, and to some extent annoying. Her insecurity was the size of Mount Everest. Although her insecurity was explained away as a result of being put down and compared to her more brilliant and beautiful sister by her parents, I think that her insecurity stemmed from her inability to have `simplicity of thought'. She only saw the negative in every kind and loving gesture. `Millie you look fabulous', `oh you mean I am fat'. Any consideration and sensitivity on the part of Leandros she saw as insensitivity or something worse. If her insecurities did not drive you barmy, her wallowing in self pity would do it.
However you will love the Hero, truly an alpha male, patient, kind, loving and sensitive. He knew why he married her and was willing to try and explore everything to make their marriage work. He did not believe in divorce or giving up at the first huddle, rather he believed that problems were meant to be overcome, no matter their size. He recognised his failings in not going after Millie when she left and not making her talk to him about her problems and insecurities as well as not defending himself at the time. He set about fixing these by making sure they communicated and helped her gain some self esteem by showing her in a most unreserved fashion that she was loved. Will his loving efforts be enough or will Millie find new excuses as to why she was not a suitable wife for him?
The banter is quite hilarious and the Hero is adorable with his quirky sense of humour and hilarious one liners.
