Product Description

Product Description

Once activated, the NSD Powerball generates levels of gyroscopic inertia previously unheard of for its small size. The smooth, fluid action of spinning your NSD Powerball when coupled to this inertia results in a unique therapeutic quality which will have a profound effect on Carpal Tunnel syndrome - CTS, Repetitive Strain injury - RSI, tendonitis, arthritis & all wrist related ailments while used for as little as just 5-7 minutes each day.
Ideal for strength & conditioning, rehabilitation and GREAT FUN! Results are produced quickly and efficiently and because the resistance generated by the ball is directly related to the speed at which you spin the internal rotor, you can use your NSD Powerball at your own pace and without further risk of damage to existing inflamed areas. This compares extremely favourably to traditional methods where rehabilitation through the use of fixed resistance (even small free weights for example) can, in effect, be more harmful than therapeutic. Drummers... Computer Operators... Butchers! Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - CTS & Repetitive strain injury - RSI can afflict people from all walks of life & profession. In the early stages, you may not even realise that you are being affected.   Using your NSD Powerball for short periods each day will endow the cuff joints with a far greater range of movement while simultaneously 'beefing-up' the wrist and forearm areas.

The NSD Powerball can now be found in the clinics of Chiropractors and Physiotherapists the length and breadth of the country as the profession is becoming fully switched on to the therapeutic qualities offered by the product.

    Verified Purchase
I ordered this item yesterday and received it today. I have been using it for only a few hours and have got the hang of it.

The product works first by the user inserting some nylon cord into the
Powerball and then wrapping it around the ball(you will understand when you see it), then a sharp tug is given which releases the cord and starts the gyroscope inside. Then it is up to the user to make small circular movements with the wrist, at high speed it really gives your forearms a workout and you realise how weak they actually are.

After some practise however it is possible to flick the ball with your free thumb without the use of a cord which is very convenient.

The powerball will slip out of your hand if it is not held in from all directions, which unfortunately means your little finger will be put under stress, a little bruising has resulted, however many have assured me that the ligaments there will strengthen over time.

On a final note I regret not purchasing the Powerball with a digital reader, at the time of purchase I thought it would really have little use but actually comparing your current score with your previous ones and those of your friends would be highly addictive.

I hope this review will help you make an informed decision about this device.

This review is specifically for the regular powerball.

This powerball does NOT include a counter.
Yes, you probably were already aware of that, as I was, but are thinking "how much more could that possibly add?" - I owned the powerball for minutes before I wished I had spent the extra couple quid to get a counter included - it really does add that much more enjoyment and seriously lengthens it's "enjoyability". You CAN buy a counter separately, but this is almost the same price as the powerball itself, so essentially I am just URGING you to get the counter included.

The ball itself is... interesting. Doesn't take too long to get the hang of it (at least it didn't for me, there are still several friends of mine struggling to start it every time they want to "play" with it) and you really can feel the strain when you do it correctly (you get most benefit almost holding your entire arm still and forcing yourself to use only your wrist).

Instantaneous effects are a dead arm and a bulging biceps (fun fact of the day: the biceps is mostly a supinator of the hand, not a flexor of the arm, hence it is worked out with this gadget). These effects are short-lived though, so don't expect to look built simply by using this - you'll need a real workout for that.

Grip has improved considerably and tendons in my wrist are rock solid so I will continue using this but the original point still remains...

    GET A COUNTER!

By reading previous reviews on the different versions of this product I was expecting to be able to base a whole workout session on it - I was even thinking of getting two so as to exercise both arms simultaneously. But the Powerball, even in its simplest form, can be such an intense exercise that you have to moderate and discipline yourself into not overdoing it!

As described on the relevant website and the manual and CD-ROM that comes with it, the Powerball can offer light anti-strain excerise for combatting RSI. Just rotate it softly and change hands often while watching TV or something, and you can actually relax the muscles while burning a few calories. The only secret is to grab it with your full palm and not your fingertips, because then you create more strain and pain.

But for those who want extra difficulty, the Powerball can offer a lot of resistance when you rotate it faster, and once you've mastered the rhythme, the positioning of your arm (e.g. bent/straight, upward/forward/sideways etc.) can help you focus on different muscle groups and get an intense workout and toning. Personally I prefer a moderate speed that allows me to keep it up for longer because I find higher speeds exhausting after a few seconds. But this goes to show how intense the workout can be for those who seek such a thing.

All in all a nice toy with a use, interesting in terms of technology but simple in its operation, not too expensive, whicy could potentially make a very nice gift as well.

My view of the powerball is very similar to everyone else that has reviewed it. I just wanted to add something that I found very useful in addition to the great arm workout that this device gives.

I work with computers a lot, and I recently started getting RSA, Repeatative Strain Injury. It was very painful in my fingers and my wrist. However, exercising with the powerball, whenever i find these symptoms coming on, I found that the pain is lessened considerably. I don't know if it will work for everyone but in my view it is a small price to pay to alleviate the pain of RSA.

This is a very good item . i would give it five stars but i regret not buying the next model up with the speed counter. ive been spinning this little devil for a few days and my hand speed is getting very fast , after a few mins , it can really pick up some speed and shake ur fingers wrists and arms. il give this a few more weeks and my hands will grip like a vice.

Worth the money for the quality
fun and a skill to learn
good if you want to teach ur non dominant hand how to work properly
many benifits ... i do allot or drawing and hand writing this ball has improved both. many more benifits im sure will happen due to this product
