Product Description

Manufacturer's Description
Powerball is the world's most powerful hand gyroscope, generating speeds of over 16,000 rpm! Simply by starting up the Powerball in your hand and rotating your wrist faster you can develop incredible speeds and increase your strength. Powerball is seriously addictive for all ages, making it ideal for play, exercise, or fun competitions.

Powerball is a dynamic and completely revolutionary new gyroscope that literally explodes with mind-numbing torque and inertia once you activate its internal rotor.

It's about the same size as a tennis ball and weighs just a little more, but take a Powerball in your hand, set that rotor in motion with the cord provided (or use your finger when you get used to it) and you'll experience an extraordinary sensation. Powerball slowly comes alive with gyroscopic force - a sublime yet pleasant resistance to your movement which is transmitted directly into your wrist and arms and which provides soothing, non impact rehabilitation at these lower speeds.

Bring your new Powerball up to 10,000rpm, the forces are now much stronger, much more vibrant. Higher! Take it right up to an unbelievable 15,000rpm at which point it's exerting almost 40lbs of pressure on your limbs and is travelling at nearly 250 revolutions per second. No batteries, no motor, just pure gyroscopic power

Not suitable for Children Under 14yrs

Product Description
Dynamic, exquisite, absolutely gorgeous! The extraordinary new Powerball Signature, with its sapphire white light neon rotor revolving within a subtly smoked shell, is truly a design classic and will exceed the very highest expectations of Powerball fans all over the world. We are talking silky smooth movement here!Put its rotor in motion, and the ball instantly comes alive with Gyroscopic force - a sublime yet pleasant resistance to the movement of your wrist and hand, and one which grows in its intensity as the speed of the rotor builds...faster and faster...up to a point where it is thrashing and jerking furiously, literally exploding with inertia and almost impossible to control! This limited edition gyroscope has a top speed in excess of 16,000rpm and can generate over 40lbs of resistance on the hands and arms as it spins (which is quite extraordinary given that it is just the size of a tennis ball and weighs under 300grams!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerball Newb and I love it!, 7 Jan 2008
By Mr. R. Betts "XtreamXTC" (Swindon, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am completely new to the who Powerball scene and I don't play any of the sports listed or any musical instruments.

Purely by chance I stumbled upon this item on Amazon as it was getting 4-5 stars, so after reading a few of the reviews and finding out what all the fuss was about I was intrigued and I had to give it a try.

At this stage I must point out that like a lot of the male population I am a slave when it comes to impulse buying and gadgets and I've been the unfortunate owner of some poor gadgets and toys as well as some good ones.

The Powerball is defiantly one of my better buys. As I said at the start, I'm not a sporty person (Snooker and the odd game of football is about as far as I stretch) but I fancied a bit more exercise and increasing my arms strength. Don't get me wrong, this item isn't going to give you a CV workout, or get you breaking a sweat but the force it generates will certainly increase your arm muscles & strength and certainly took me by surprise how much power it does generate and I've only got it up for 8,000 RPM (just half of its potential!).

It takes a while to get used to starting it up and I've still not mastered doing it without the string, but after a couple of attempts you get used to the `rhythm' of it and now I have no trouble at all starting it up and keeping it going for as long as I want. Be patient at this point, it can get frustrating when you can't get the thing started!

The main thing that sells this to me, is I can't put it down, I know its cliché, but it really does make it a fun way to exercise your arms and its addictive. I can sit there watching the football on the TV and using this at the same time and it doesn't feel too strenuous.

The only tiny tiny thing I can grumble about is the noise it makes, it not horrendously loud, but its just enough to put me off bringing it to work with me, which is a shame because I'd be using it all day.

So, hopefully that gives you a good idea of what the fuss is all about from a newb perspective, read the reviews and if you think its something you want to give a try, go and get one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yay! I can get it to work!, 27 Jan 2009
By Kirk St Moritz "Kirk" (UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
I've only had this a day so cannot vouch for its long term muscle toning abilities. However, these are my experiences so far...

I had seen these powerballs advertised on Amazon for the last year, and never really given them a look. Then, the other day, I saw a bit of blurb that said they helped musicians. Whilst not a pro by any stretch of the mark, I do like tinkling the ivories. However, I had found it difficult playing longer pieces because my wrists got tired, so anything to improve that would be handy.

So I ordered this one. I could have ordered a number of other similar looking powerballs but plumped for this one as it was in stock.

When I got it, I was surprised at how small it is. It is between the size of a snooker ball and a tennis ball. It came with 4 or 5 strings, which are like the cords on a lawnmower. You only need 1 so it was nice of them to provide spares.

I had a brief look at the instructions and gave it a go. Nothing. The thing spinned a bit then stopped. I tried again a few times, then reread the instructions. Still nothing. The lights would come on briefly and then it would stop spinning.

Did it need batteries? There was an LCD screen. Perhaps I needed to turn it on? No mention in the instructions.

So I turned to youtube. There are hundreds of youtube clips of people doing things with powerballs. Some show kids demonstrating how easy it is to start. Gits. Some show speeds in excess of 16000 RPM. I so far had managed 200. Most galling of all were the clips showing you how to start the thing with one hand using your thumb.

No chance.

But I tried again, and this time I felt a tug! I think I had been a bit over eager to start with. If I start with a gentle wide motion, it seems to work. I switched the mode on the powerball (there are about 4) to record the max RPM I reached, and I had got up to a whopping 3000.

I showed my wife. She smiled politely and wondered what muscles I was trying to improve. My teenage son wants a go, but I have told him he can only have a go once I have mastered it, as I don't want to be humiliated by him on what is after all, MY toy. My four year old wants a go but she is too young. She is happy to play with the little box it comes in though.

After a day I can get it up to 8000RPM, which is poor by youtube standards but is down to bad technique rather than anything else. Practice will make perfect. All I can say to anybody who has just got one and can't get it spinning right, is keep trying!

Very addictive and once you get the hang of it (in the first 5 minutes), you really can feel it working on your muscles. Brilliantly useable whatever you're doing. Love it!
