5.0 out of 5 stars I like it 25 Jun 2014
Colour Name:white
The Poweradd Apollo2 Solar Panal Charger is a handy power bank which gives you the ability to charge your gadgets such as tablets, phones and cameras whilst on the go whilst you may not be near a source of electricity with which to charge your essential items. I usually carry a power bank in my bag as I am notorious for forgetting to charge my phone and iPad before going out and they run out of batteries at typically just the time I need them! But I foresee that this product would be ideal for anyone who is active and on the go outside a lot.

The power bank itself works really very well. It has solar panels on one side which is designed to charge up the power bank. This is quite a slow process! It does take many hours of sunshine to get it charged. I attached it to the outside of my backpack whilst out walking (it comes with a clip to do this), and this is certainly an advantage of a power bank with solar panels - it is actively charging without a source of electricity. You are also able to charge it through more conventional means, with a cable, and this is quicker and probably more practical a lot of the time. I personally like the ability to be able to charge it either way and it certainly adds to the convenience value of the item.

With regard to charging without using the solar panels, all that is required is to plug the micro USB cable into the power bank, and the other end into a USB port. The LED lights on the power bank tell you how much charge it is currently holding.

The power bank has 2 USB ports with which you can charge your devices. One has an output of 2.1A and the other has an output of 1A. The higher output would generally be used for tablets etc, and the lower output would be for mobile phones etc.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok for the iPhone, struggled with an iPad 25 July 2014
Colour Name:white|Verified Purchase
Used this for a camping holiday a month ago. I fully charged it before setting out, and managed to get 4 charges of an IPhone 5s before it went flat. It was then fully recharged on the mains and then managed another 2 charges of the iPhone. I then tried to charge an iPad which it struggled with. With two blue lights showing on the front it got to 18% before going flat and the seemed to start draining the power back out of the iPad.
It's a well made little device without being too bulky, and was really useful at keeping the phone going.
Will keep trying with the iPad but I was a little disappointed that it struggled so badly.
Not sure the solar panels are particularly useful....it's had pretty much full sun on the window for the past two weeks and is still only on 1 blue light....probably best not to rely on this feature to much! Better to treat it like a standard power block.

4.0 out of 5 stars SOLAR POWERADD APOLLO 25 May 2014
Colour Name:white
I purchased 2 of this product which didn't meet my expectations and I wrote a scathing review about it.
I'm happy to say that the defective products have been replaced and the replacement are working fine.
I am happy to recommend the products as I'm enjoying their use- the purpose for which they were bought. I thank both the manufacturers & Amazon for easy resolution of the initial snag.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the right solar charger!!!!! 5 July 2014
Colour Name:black
I bought this beautiful device after I've made some search. It's shape, color and specifications attracts me to buy it as a gift for a family member who lives overseas. However, when it was used the first time it worked perfect as it charged the IPhone 5 in no time. when it ran out of its initial charge it was placed under the sun, where the temperature was about 43 degrees, and left there for about 8 hours and it did not charge!!! it was placed the next day under the sun light for another 8 hours and still did not charge!!! only two lights were flashing during the charging period and when tried to charge the IPhone it did not do the job as it did not work. I personally would not recommend this product as it is expensive and does not do what it suppose to do.

Oh dear, the first time I tried to used it (British grand prix - 4 day camping this weekend) it didn't work! !! Maybe I'm doing something wrong as the instructions aren't clear. I charged the unit up fully the night before we left ie all led lights were showing blue. After day one I went to charge my phone but the solar charger was playing dead. No lights on or power being transferred to the phone. I walked 1 mile back to the car and plug the charger in. The blue led lights started up and after 10 minutes all were lit up, however as soon as I unplugged it ....no response! ! Is it me? Or have I bought a faulty item? I can't seem to send the seller any feedback either. HELP!!

This thing is amazing, best festival gadget around.

Fully charged by USB before going and it kept 2 phones and 2 ecig charged for the duration of a 4 day festival finally running out of juice on the way home.

Solar panel is a nice addition, While it will take over a week to charge the battery fully even in ideal curcumstances, I just clipped it to my belt as i went around and let it top up, probably buying me around a quarter of the battery over the 4 days. (and making new curious friends)

It now lives permenantly on my bag keeping my gadgets topped up as i travel.

Came fully charged and worked once - then would not re-charge. Pity, it sounded like a great thing to have around for weekends away . . .
