This album showcases the purity and strength of the girls’ voices, every song being beautifully performed. Eternal’s voices work best on ballads, though, so the stand-out track seem to be the slower ones, like “I am blessed” and “It will never end”. Similarly, this means that faster, more poppy tracks such as title track “Power of a woman” don’t quite match the musical greatness of the powerful ballads. With the ever growing popularity of R’n’B music, it is easy to forget bands such as Eternal, who were one of the most successful groups with their unique mix of soul, R’n’B and pop. Definitely worth a listen, although if you want something poppier and slightly more slick, Destinys Child or TLC will probably be more to your taste. But for a more mature sound, Eternal’s “Power of a woman” is the best choice.
