As a tarot reader of many many years I am always drawn to cards and when I saw these I simply had to have them - they made me laugh. The art work is unlike any other cards I have seen and at first I regarded them as a curiosity. However, I have used runes for a long time too and began to give the cards a chance to prove themselves which they did with great success. Each picture is designed to show the meaning of the rune and they are very successful. However, there are some oddities. A bright green naked lady breastfeeding a baby for one! In the ornate borders there are medallions that show the rune itself, the sound associated with it and it's number. The name of the rune is written in runes at the top. The booklet that comes with them is pretty minimal but covers the basics and the artist includes a 25th rune,Yr, which you can use or leave out. They wouldn't do for someone with inflexible ideas about the runes or who is fussy about the art work - men with big hair, massive shoulders and calves and tiny waists. They are a hoot, I love them and they really are readable! Well done Voenix.

I've had these cards for a few years now and they're the only deck I use. The Illustrations are very good depicting the Runes meaning excellently. The Yr Card is included for those who like to include it and they come with a small book with a basic over view of each rune. I would recomend these for beginners and experienced readers, the pictures will make anyone smile and the uniqueness will make you love them!

AMAZING! :) 15 July 2000
By Volmarr Wyrd - Published on Amazon.com
The artwork seems very true to the traditional meaning of the runes very much! With scenes that do a great job of showing the runes within there cultural system properly in most cases. Certainly the best set of runecards i have seem. The only card that really misses i think is Mannaz (it just looks very vague). All the rest hit exactly on! The only other complaints i have are things that are not true to the Old Norse culture; such as in Jera the clothes the people are wearing looks more like what farmers in the 19th century or later would be wearing (seperate tops and long skirts for the women). Also on Ingwaz the god Inge-Frey has small horns (as in the wiccan horned-god idea) which is incorrect for Frey to have. He is not the same as the Wiccan idea of the horned god. Another thing i don't like; in Ehwaz the rider of the horse has cheesy horns on his helmet. No vikings EVER had horns on there helmets! But i must say, all the cards are stunning and VERY intense and powerfull! They really reflect the meanings of the runes in a amazing way! I wholely recommend these cards to anyone! They have a VERY Old Norse feel and vib to them (except those things i noted)! :)

Great price, impressive images 29 Jan 2007

This deck is among the most stirring rune decks that I have in my collection.

The images are nothing short of breath taking, and excellently inspired.

If they had full sized movie posters of these cards for sale, I would buy each and every one of them.

The price is wonderful.

The information booklet leaves a wee bit to be desired, but with many other fine volumes available, this point is negligible.

in closing I would highly recommend this deck for anyone with an eye for

artwork as well as an interest in divination.

Great for Cards with the Runes 6 May 2011
By Jason Nadeau - Published on Amazon.com

I usually prefer to read the runes as stones, wood carvings, and other methods but if you're looking for a deck of cards with the runes this is a good deck. The accompanying book is very basic, and they include an extra card with Yr which is not part of the Elder Futhark. The card artwork is very good and the names of the runes are spelled out in runes at the top of the card, which is a great touch leading towards deeper understanding of the rune. Overall, very good.

Just ordered a replacement because I like the deck so much! 19 Jan 2011

This is a great deck, drawn largely from the works of Thorsson and other contemporary but serious writers on the subject. The imagery is beautiful, stirring, and inspiring. The artist has clearly internalized the tradition and added a great deal of integration to the imagery that occurs in much of the contemporary literature. Yet the artist's voice is not lost either, and despite the fact that my own understanding often diverges from the artists, I have chosen to replace this deck.

This is a worthy deck.

I was not expecting what I received with this deck! What a pleasant surprise! The images on these cards speak volumes! These are the best I have used thus far in communicating the essence behind the runes.
