Product Description

Product Description

The big-screen version of the TV and licensing phenomenom of the 90's offers excitement and adventure as the six high school teens turned heroic Power Rangers battle against the unleashed evil morphological being Ivan Ooze. After being accidentally released from a chamber, Ivan Ooze plans, somewhat predictably, to take over the Earth and destroy the Power Rangers, and their mentor Zordon. Zordon is soon weakened and our heroes set out on a quest to the distant planet Thadus to find the 'Great Power' which will make them stronger so they can face the battle that awaits them.

From Amazon.co.uk

They skydive, they kickbox, they travel through space. Is there anything these crayon-coloured teens can't do? The answer seems a resounding "no" until some construction workers unwittingly open a manhole cover and loose Ivan Ooze upon Angel Grove. Although incarcerated in his egglike tomb for 6,000 years, Ooze gets right to work at that world domination thing. First up: strip those eager teens of their uniforms and associated powers and send their leader Zordon to his crystalline deathbed. There's nothing to do but head for a distant planet to meet up with a bikini-clad warrior babe who imparts ancient wisdom and power. Meanwhile, Ooze has been turning parents into zombies who craft giant metallic insects--all the better to take over the world with. This 90-minute film features some cast changes from the television series, as well as better special effects and extended fight scenes, which account for the PG rating. Parents must weigh in for themselves on the famous violent-influence-or-not question. Although, like anything else, what seemed violent in 1995 may seem a bit tame today. Ages 5 and up. --Kimberly Heinrichs --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This film is probably one of my all time favourites. I loved this film as a kid and even now I still find it to be enjoyable as ever, special mention goes to:

- The fight scenes, well choreographed and a whirlwind of puns, as per usual ;)
- The characters: most of them have interesting & funny dialogue in various ways and stay true to the characterisation of the main cast form the TV series (though Rocky fades into the background a little bid, which is a little disheartening and one of the reasons I gave the film a 4 instead of a 5). Ivan ooze is a particularly great villain, completely hilarious. An interesting thing to note is that they scrap a couple of the villains (though not Goldar, Rita or Zedd) and replace them with a movie-exclusive character called "Mordant" and strangely enough it works. I like it. Dulcia's (sp?) also a good ally, though we don;t see her for long.
- The cinematography: mostly takes place at night, which is an interesting change; gives the film a dark, badass edge nearer to the end.
- The SFX: pretty damn good, especially to say that it was made 15+ years ago.

I strongly recommend buying this - its entertainment for the whole family, for all generations (despite the "PG" rating, should really be U, that's not a bad thing though).

When i first saw this movie back in 1995 I found it completely amazing. It was so different from the tv show I had loved and cherished for the few years previous but somehow it was quite similar. The movie starts off with the rangers sky-diving and then rollerblading away. Its basically a typical day... the bad news comes when a large egg is discovered; the egg containing an evil being known as ivan ooze. He is released and then destroys the command centre (and its new decor and poor zordons in a potato sac! Ai,ai,ai!).The rangers are teleported to with the remaining power to a planet to get new powers...with a good fight scene between the rangers and the new tenga. With new ninja costumes and new zords its time for the power rangers to kick some ivan ooze ... The ways the rangers morph ,the shiny suits, aishas headlights, bulk and skulls unfunny antics, kim's cool humour, tengas, ninja rocky and the new cool ninja zords(black rangers frog zord is cool!) and the whole new feel to power rangers made this a very , very cool movie ! Buy it now even if you hate the power rangers , i am sure you will love this. There somethign for everyone:extreme sports, action, karate, ninja costumes, big birds, amy jo johnson, steve cardenas, tightly clothed super heroes and comedy! BUY NOW!

I distinctly remember going to the cinema to see this as I was a fan of tv series. While, even at the age of eight, I expected to be disappointed, I found it strangely enjoyable. I watched it several times more when I got it on video, at least until I grew out of Power Rangers and discovered yoyo's. About a month ago I caught my brother, aged 20, watching it on tv and I realized that even though it's been more than a decade I could probably watch it again now and enjoy it in exactly the same way, completely unironically. Unlike some other films of the same era, such as 'Space Jam' and 'Tom & Jerry: The Movie', I don't cringe when I think back to how much I liked Power Rangers at the time because I can still recognize what it was that made it so easy to watch, it's simple, undemanding fun.

Power Rangers The Movie is one of my favourite films of all time. I am a Power Rangers fan and that might have something to do with it but this is a good film especially since the original cast are in it. Jason David Frank is there and Amy Jo Johnson is there amongst others. It focuses on the Mighty Morphin storyline which to me is my favourite era of Power Rangers. I give this film five out of five as it is good. There is a new character in there that is not a tv series regular besides Ivan Ooze and that is the pig monster that walks around with Rita and Zedd. I'm looking forward to Power Rangers Samurai like a lot of Power Rangers fans and hope that Saban will bring out more Power Rangers movies in the future! Also if you're a Power Rangers fan make sure you attend Power Morphicon!

My Son (age 22) asked me to purchase this on line because he adored the Power Rangers when he was young. He wanted to remember what it was he loved about the Power Rangers. We have since watched the DVD. We both had a good laugh and enjoyed it thoroughly, even though the characters in the film seem a bit tame to us now, some years later. Ivan Ooze and Rita Repulsa haven't changed a bit! Having ordered the DVD on line, it arrived within just a few days in perfect condition, was well wrapped and my son was thrilled to bits with his 'trip down memory lane'.

Power Rangers was my ultimate childhood show, and any film featuring them has to be good. The acting isn't great, and the storyline sucks, but as a children's film, its the muts nuts
