Finally, after so long of fans requesting box sets of their favourite childhood superheroes, Buena Vista decided to fulfil that request. The only problem is - they didn't make much of an effort.

If you have the 4 already released volumes of Mystic Force on DVD then you are going to have duplicates. All this set is is the 4 previously released discs, with 2 discs containing the rest of the series on.

Don't let the Amazon thumbnail fool you - this release is the COMPLETE series, not just a repackage of the volumes.

Anyway - the content itself... the previous releases weren't exactly brilliant. They had episodes all over the place, some random ones placed as special features, etc. Instead of doing the smart thing and reissuing the set on less discs and in storyline order, they simply had the 4 discs with 3 episodes on, then made 2 other discs with about 9 episodes on each. What is worse though, is the fact that these two extra discs are TV EDITS of episodes. That's right - basically they contain the exact edits you would see on television. While Mystic Force didn't get heavily edited on Jetix, some scenes such as flashing lights, sword slashes, etc are removed and while it doesn't distract from the storyline, it makes a fan feel a bit gipped. It almost makes as much sense to record the episodes off TV and deal with them having a Jetix logo in the corner.

The GOOD thing about this set and the others is the price. Here you are getting a 6 disc set (which could have been 3 or 4 discs if they had reauthored the originals) for about £15. Bargain for a little one who wouldn't know the different between the edits and episode order but loves anything 'Power Rangers'.

Here is the order of episodes and where to find them on the set:

Disc 1
Episode 01 - Broken Spell Part 1
Episode 02 - Broken Spell Part 2
Episode 03 - Code Busters
Bonus Episode - "History" from S.P.D.

Disc 2
Episode 06 - Legendary Catastros
Episode 11 - The Gatekeeper Part 1
Episode 12 - The Gatekeeper Part 2
Episode 05 - Whispering Voices (marked as a bonus episode)

Disc 3
Episode 07 - Fire Heart
Episode 10 - Petrified Xander
Episode 13 - Scaredy Cat
Episode 17 - Ranger Down (marked as a bonus episode)

Disc 4
Episode 18-20 - Dark Wish (edited into 'mini-movie' format)

Disc 5
Episode 04 - Rock Solid
Episode 08 - Stranger Within Part 1
Episode 09 - Stranger Within Part 2
Episode 14 - Long Ago
Episode 15 - Inner Strength
Episode 16 - Soul Specter
Episode 21 - Koragg's Trial
Episode 22 - Heir Apparent Part 1
Episode 23 - Heir Apparent Part 2

Disc 6
Episode 24 - The Light
Episode 25 - The Hunter
Episode 26 - Hard Heads
Episode 27 - Snow Prince
Episode 28 - Light Source Part 1
Episode 29 - Light Source Part 2
Episode 30 - The Return
Episode 31 - Mystic Fate Part 1
Episode 32 - Mystic Fate Part 2

Don't let this review put you off the product. It is just a shame that such little effort was made with these sets in what could have been an easy job for a highly rated, close-to-heart TV programme. For the price, it is definitely worth it. Final thing - if you are buying all of the Disney season box sets (Ninja Storm, DinoThunder, S.P.D., Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive) and are hoping that they will look like part of a set on your shelf... then you will be disappointed. The spine art is a disgrace and is all over the place, they do not look nice on display.

I bought this because of all the Power Ranger series this is one of my favourites, because I love the mixture of sword & sorecery flavour with good old fashioned power rangers martial arts and laser beams. All good fun, so I thought it would be good to have all the episodes.

This is my one problem. While there is a complete episode list on the back of the case, the first four discs are just the first four individually released dvds, so they come in a somewhat weird order: disc 1 has the first three episodes, but the next one is on disc 5. Episode 5 is on disc 2, but 6 is on disc 3. This means that sometimes new abilities and even characters can turn up with no explanation, simply because you haven't watched an episode or two. I assume the first four dvds were made so they just had what were deemed the best episodes, or the best taken together, but when you add in the two bonus episodes, it makes no sense at all.

Still, once you have it worked out, and are willing to change disc a bit more often, I'm sure it's much more satisfying.
