This book is fantastic! It gently introduces you to the secrets of married life and communication within it. This book made me more humble and truly changed my marriage! Highly reccomanded!

As a professional working to end domestic abuse and a woman who has experienced abuse I can say this book is very dangerous for any woman who is struggling in their marraige. It advises very unsafe methods for managing an abusive situation and does not acknowledge the responsibility both men and women need to take in relationships.
On the one hand it says a man must be in charge, but on the other says men are not very capable at praying.
Some specific points are:
1. Patriarchal stereotypes persist throughout the text
2. Abuse is condoned not condemned or even identified
3. Author is openly complicit in abuse in her own relationship
4. Praying does not change an absuive husband. It starts with him taking responsibility for his choices and actions
5. The book is extremely dangerous for women in abusive relationships

This book reallly jumps into what God intended us wives to be. If you look at marriage many years ago it was about commitment, it was about the wife being the heart of the home while her husband was the head of it. God made woman as a partner and a helper for man and Stormie really covers it in detail. Marriages need the basic principals that she lays out in order to survive.
It really goes into great detail on how you can change your marriage just by changing yourself. IF YOU ARE SELFISH NATURED then you will hate this book. This book is about giving your heart and soul over to God and changing yourself to benefit your marriage. If you are the type that "won't change until he does" then don't buy this book because you need a Bible. You have to be willing to be completely unselfish the way Jesus Christ was when he was on earth. God is not saying "let the husband walk all over his wife." Most marriages that you see that have lasted 25 years or more today have God as the center of their marriage. The divorce rate 53% today, that has to tell you something? Something is missing, and it's God. If you change yourself to be a wife after God's own heart, then through you, God will reach your husband. Giving up is not the answer.

I have already gone through this book three times --- and I'll keep reading it. I'm buying copies for my friends. This is one of the most helpful books I've read about how to really change your marriage --- how to let God change it --- and the book is so practical!

A blessing at my time of need

This book was given to me by a neighbor for my birthday. I am a believer but my devotion to God had somehow nearly diminished. On Christmas Eve of 2007 my husband left me after 17 years. We have 2 teenage children and I just about lost my mind when I opened up this book and began to read. It opened my eyes to views I hadnt considered, it gave me a sense of peace and hope that even our "deadest" feelings for each other, somehow we can place our love and marriage in God's hands and pray for him to come into BOTH of our hearts and help us realize we can overcome any obstacles set in front of us. I know this book is not a miracle but for me, it was a blessing. I have purchased the book for husbands so he can see what I have seen and hopefully we can work thru our problems with the guidance of our Lord & Savior.
