Love this book 27 Aug. 2009
By Robynn - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I never watch TV but one day I flipped it on and flipped through channels. I was drawn into an interview by Joan Hunter on some Christian station, I sat down and listened to every word, I was mesmerized. She prayed a prayer and I prayed along with her, tears flowed from my eyes and I felt the touch of God, I felt the pull of the Holy Spirit to purchase this book. I have felt relief everyday from that prayer-- there was a burden (I didn't know I had) lifted from my heart that day. I didn't really know what was going to be in the book, I just knew that I needed to purchase it and it is a book that I have not wanted to put down since it arrived. I am reading it with a highlighter in hand and making lots of notes in the margins.

This book is for everyone who needs healing (be it emotional, be it physical, we all need some form of healing and this book takes us through healing we could not have even imagined was needed, it is amazing to have burdens lifted that we didn't realize we were carrying, and let me tell you, you feel lighter and freer instantly)

and this book is also for everyone who wishes that they could lay hands on others and heal in the name of Jesus.

This book explains that God has already given us the authority to heal. This has been something that has been my stumbling block "who am I to think that I can ask that so and so be healed" I am not a leader in a church-- but God has already given me the gift and I have been afraid to open my mouth and use it. This book says to be confident and too expect miracles and then they will flow. I had been mealy-mouthed and the miracles were trickling but now I am feeling more confident in everything and I am already seeing the Spirit flowing out with miracles, which only begets greater confidence.

In Jesus name thank you for putting this book into my hands and please Lord bless Joan Hunter for writing the words in such a way that I could grasp my gift with tenacity and run with it in the way that God wants me to do.

One of my favorite passages in the book talks about how we are to stop putting OUR limits on God that God is not limited by us or our situations. That God wants to use each and every one of us. Okay that sounds good but in practice how many of us really believe that God wants to 'use little old me, what can I really do for GOD?' "Who am I to think that I can perform a miracle?" Then Joan makes it very real for the reader, something we can wrap our brains around. She points out a list of imperfect people that God put to 'miracle' use. David had an affair and was a murderer, Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers- he was mentally and physcically abused, Peter denied Christ, the disciples fell asleep while praying, Abraham was old as the hills, Martha worried about everything, Noah drank too much, Moses had anger management issues, and my favorite- Lazarus was DEAD! Wow I never thought of it that way. If God can use a DEAD person to make his point he can certainly use me for something, precisely because -- I am alive!

If you are thinking about reading this book, and you are feeling even the slightest pull to purchase it, then the Holy Spirit has probably guided you here for a reason and I absolutely recommend your getting it and reading it. And as Joan does in her book I am asking God to Bless you in all ways.

UPDATE 2011:
I got to attend one of Joan's Miracle Service, my adult daughter came with me. Years ago she had a work related accident and was left with a hole in her kneecap. It was painful and limiting to her. I know the hole was there because I had stuck my finger in it a week or so before the miracle service. When we discussed what my daughter was going to ask Joan to pray for her. It was creepy to feel the hole in the knee cap under the skin. I could slip my forefinger into the indent. After Joan prayed over my daughter her knee was smooth. The knee cap was like new which is what Joan prayed for a new knee. You could no longer feel where the damaged area had ever been. That was unbelievably awesome. We experienced a miracle that would not have been readily obvious to the other observers because they did not feel her knee prior to the prayer but we knew the hole had been there for years and was indeed still there prior to the prayer. Wow our God is better than AMAZING! Seeing and being part of a miracle when it is happening bring alive the miracles of the old and new testament. Miracles are indeed still happening in our time.

You can see Joan Hunter's healing school online 24 hours a day at Xmedia.com It is broken up into 8 parts (8 hours)The DVD goes along with her book Healing the Whole Man. It is very good if you are interested in learning more about miracle healing. But read this book first. Another wonderful book is Surprised by Healing, check out my review of it too.

Informative 3 Dec. 2009

Even though I've just started reading this book, I am finding that the information contained within is quite helpful and insightful. Just as the author, I do stress that those who read this book should be reading God's Word and seeking Him first and foremost. The author Joan Hunter really gives understanding in simplicity. I recommend this reading for those seeking to be healed and freed from their afflictions or those who want a deeper understanding of the healing ministry to which God has called them into.

The power of the root cause 3 Nov. 2010
By K. Young - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I read this book last year as part of my requirement to be ordained by Joan Hunter's ministry. I just ordered "Power to Heal" and "Healing the Whole Man" for a friend, bringing me back to this page. "Power to Heal" is best read before "Healing the Whole Man" because it gives the person praying insight of the root causes causing the person's affliction. When you release the root of the issue, you break the stronghold of the affliction. It is a real key of answered prayer. Stress and trauma are two of the biggest modern root offenses, which are covered in the book along with other causes. Joan has received such divine insight as she lived her own life. And, she is willing to be used by God in being very transparent for others to learn from her. And, the even better news is, that we can all use the power given to us by Jesus to pray for others. Joan's ministry is not only to heal the sick in the name of Jesus, but equip others to do the same. This book equips you in very practical ways and the stories of others will inspire you to do the same.
