5.0 out of 5 stars Great read - must buy! 11 Aug 2005
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
The book is a great read, and as mentioned in the other review informs you of your potential capabilities.
The thing I found is that most people use the creativity Buzon aspires to a lot in their normal every day life - without knowing they do! That's where this book comes in, because it documents the creative steps/methodologies that you use sub consciously, when you do need them in a focused manner, you know exactly what to do, rather than "fumbling" with your given situation, ergo 5*'s.
The book itself is divided into 10 chapters, each one concentrating on different aspects of creativity. I personally would recommend that you buy Buzon's Head First, first, that will give you a good overview, and then you can move into the more specialised areas of intelligence

3.0 out of 5 stars A way to open you eyes to how creative you are. 15 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I brought this book on the back of reading Tony Buzan's Use Your Head hoping to discover more about Buzan's thoughts and how they might affect my creativity. The book itself is divided into 10 chapters covering various aspects of creativity from the left and right sides of your brain through mindmapping, music and art to ways to improve your own abilities. There are liberal sprinkings of information about 'really clever people' which make you think 'if only.....' It is an interesting read which posed more questions than answered (not that I expected answers from a book!) but I would recomend it on the basis that it makes you think and realise that you are a lot more creative than you thought you were.

4.0 out of 5 stars A small book filled with great hacks for your life 19 Oct 2008
By Miguel F. De Espinosa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have recently read this book (in ebook form) and I am surprised at the previous review. I don't know if Tony's methods work for everybody. I can say they worked great for me as a philosophy student.

Is the mindmapping method the "End All be All" note taking system? Hardly. But it's great for complex matters and concepts, drafting novels and in general make sense of a boiled head.

However, more than tricks, this book is loaded with motivational stories to make you stop whining and start creating something. For that alone it is a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Little Book of Creativity 5 Mar 2009
By Maureen Brennan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I am not familiar with this author and his previous work but I am aiming to learn more about creativity and using my mind to accomplish more and learn faster.

This book was a pleasant surprise. Packed with insights on how to start thinking more creatively and stories about famous thinkers of history (Da Vinci, Einstien, Newton) used their minds.

Some of the suggestions discussed: use illustrations in your note taking, generate ideas - your power to generate ideas is infinite, see the relationships between things, improve your vocabulary, brainstorm, slow down, etc.

The key to it all is associations. In physics and nature and other things, there are similar systems and ideas.

Relate to new ideas by forming associations to what you already know.

Listen to different types of music, read a variety of books and read often.

I really liked this book and see it as a start to my journey to understanding creativity.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mostly Myth 19 April 2005
By Drally - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is mostly about saying idea generation is creativity. It is not! The stories given are trite, the puzzled do not work, and the mind mapping idea works no better than any other form of noting or brainstorming. Lots of snakeoil and greasy writing. Tony Buzan is a self acclaimed guru, and has a cult following. Apart from that he is the most successful exagerter on the guru circuit. He manages to make the same claims as others who have been prosecuted through litigation, but he does it in a way to remain unscathed. Pretty sneaky stuff.

Regards

DRally
