Product Description

Powder the album - this is it! - the real deal - turbo rock from L.A. at it's finest. Twelve breathtaking tracks to keep you on the edge of your seat, and a bonus mix of "Up Here" the single which took Kerrang! TV by storm. Amazing vocals, blistering guitar and rockin' bass, still don't believe us listen to it! Powder have spent the last couple of years building up a a masive following in L.A., and its now time for them to venture out and take the world by storm. Already on the strength of their debut video on Kerrang! TV and SCUZZ, they have been booked for the Download festivals in Glasgow and Donington. As Kerrang said of Powder, "Live, they're more theatrical than most West End shows!", this sums up the energy Powder put into their act, and unlike many other bands this raw energy is purveyed on the album. As the lead singer Ninette says "Mommas coming to rock you, honey!" - you have been warned!!!!

A great new album, full of sweet vocals and devastating guitars - what a combination!

seat of my pants 2.29

A devastating start to the album, with crunching guitars matched by Ninette's floating vocals. Louder, faster!

need a little help 3.18

No rest here - the pace continues, with a fantastically tight bass and rhythm section driving the cry for help. How does Ninette fit so many words into a single line without sounding like a fast forward tape machine? Obviously a super power we weren't aware of before.

bite my tongue 3.22

The b-side from the up here single (can CDs really have b-sides?) - and that's a great shame, as this delicate ballad could have been the breakthrough single for Powder, in the same way that don't speak was for No Doubt.

adore me 2.53

Just in case you thought that you could drift into blissful sleep after the last track, here's your wake up call. This has a very west coast feel, smooth but powerful guitars - I could definitely play this whilst cruising up Highway 1 in my convertible Jaguar. Except that I'm stuck in rainy Birmingham. Without the convertible.

i 3.04

Alanis Morisette meets hippy chick. But with power!

up here 3.14

There are two versions of this track - this radio edit, and the extendo mix-O-matic version. And would you believe it, after decades of prefering the fuller versions (light my fire, freebird etc...) here's a radio edit I actually like more! We've seen it on Kerrang TV, and it loses nothing in the pure audio format.

go 3.07

Every album is allowed at least one politcal song (or in the case of the Levellers, one non-political song).

thers been a lot of bad reviews for this and i dont know why! all i can guess is that the ppl who did those reviews are either plain boring and analyse everything on their own mainstream standards or more than likely these guys have no musical or crative interlect to relate to the material on this cd. the album is fast fun and the band, well hell yeah there in their 40's with beer guts!! thats old skl and thats awesome. these rockers just keep it going with some great tunes infusing electro pop and almost everything into a rock base, brilliant. an unexpected favourite of mine. lloking at the reviews its probably like marmite, u either love or hate it. i hate marmite but love this and im sure everyone else except the cocks who wrote the one star reports will as well. thank you

For the other people who have canned this album... My IQ is above average!
This album is probably one of the few where I like all the songs. I am not a huge fan of Rock/Indie/whatever genre you wanna label this music, but I think it is brilliant. All my mates want to copy the CD because they think it is fantastic. I hope Powder get to release another album.
The album itself is quite rocky but at the same time has melodic songs with catchy chorus'. I think the vocals on the album are very good and it is perfect music to listen to in your car at full volume. Forget what all the bad reviews say, you MUST atleast listen to the album because this band deserves it.

Finally got hold of a copy of the Powder album, and well worth the wait it was. A very well written and performed album.
The musicianship is first class. Ninette's vocals are a dream, powerfully strong when needed in the rockier tracks, exemplory
on the mellower songs without resorting to cheesy cliché's..this lady is a star, no, the band are stars, they deserve to be huge, and if this release is anything to go by, it won't take long for that to happen.
This album doesn't dissappoint.

First of all i would like to state i'm abolutely shocked at the amount of negative reviews made on this album, and how they all sound so similar.

First off i became a fan of this band when i was about sixteen and soon bought the album after hearing there single 'up here'.
From listening to all the songs on the album i relised how talented this band is and how easy it is to fall in love with each indiviual song.
After listening to each of them 3 times over i found myself singing along with them and enjoying listening to them over and over again thats when i relized how awesome and unque this album was!!

There techno rock style music is simply amazing and catchy, the only problem i think (some) people may have is the bands apearance in the music videos for the songs which usually consist of crazy costumes and loud personalities which some people may be put off by and prefer just the simple rock videos as you could say. this dosent really come into the fact that there music is amazing.

I knew if i showed my friends powders music videos they would be put off by there crazy costumes and mad videos, because they wernt really into bands who dress,/act unique and are not like other typical bands.

So instead i played the songs to them and got them likeing the band so much that they appreciated it when i showed them what they perform like in there music videos and in live shows ect.

So what i'd really like to say is dont be put off if your not into the crazy outfits and loud personality of powder and just to listen to there music and i guarantee youl fall in love with this album and want to share it with many others like i did.

This is a must buy and thanks to this album powder has another handful of fans from the uk!!! :D
