I bought a powakaddy Freeway 2 a few months ago despite reading reviews that said the speed was difficult to get right. I mentioned this at the shop and the assistant suggested reviewers were being "too picky" so I went with it.

It is a good trolley in terms of folding up/down although it doesn't "click" into place when you fold it up which means it unfolds if you dont carry it properly and then covers you in mud. It's also not easy to find the specialist "brolly holder" of which there is only one that can fit this machine. However it is quick and easy to assemble, the 18 hole battery would probably last for 27 holes and it is quiet and easy to clean as the wheels just slip off.

The big gripe is with the speed. Speed 4 is too slow and your mates leave you behind and speed 5 and you're almost running after it. Nice looking machine, especially in the white - but not cheap and I wouldn't rush out and buy another until they get the speed right.

Interested in the review below which suggested the speed can be altered - any ideas where ?

THE LATEST POWAKADDY FREEWAY II SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS, IT IS A NIGHTMARE TO USE. YES IT LOOKS GOOD BUT TRY USING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND MY VIEWS. WHOEVER DESIGNED THIS THING WAS NOT A GOLFER. THE BASIC RULE HAS BEEN FORGOTTEN. A TROLLEY SHOULD GO AT YOUR PACE NOT YOU HAVING TO GO AT THE TROLLEY'S PACE. DESPITE HAVING THE SPEED CONTROLLER MODIFIED( AT MY COST ) CONTROLLING THIS THING DRIVES YOU MAD. PRESS A BUTTON, TOO FAST, PRESS SLOWER BUTTON, TOO SLOW. IT IS HARD TELL WHETHER THE TROLLEY IS SWITCHED ON. THE ON/OFF IS OFTEN PRESSED BY MISTAKE UNLESS YOU CONSTANTLY LOOK AT IT, AND IF YOU DON'T PRESS THE ON/OFF BUTTON HARD ENOUGH, YOU THINK YOU HAVE STOPPED IT, BUT WHEN YOU TURN AROUND ITS DISAPPEARED INTO A BUNKER OR THE NEARBY WOOD. THE SCREEN IS OF NO USE. YOU CANNOT READ IT IN THE SUN AND IN DAMP CONDITIONS IT CONDENSES UP!!. GOING UP A SMALL HILL IT WILL FALL BACK ON YOU UNLESS YOU KEEP HOLD OF IT. IF YOU FANCY ONE PLEASE TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE FIRST. I WISH I HAD!!

Freeway 2. Dont do it 20 July 2010
If by some chance you are about to buy an electric golf trolley. Do yourself a big favour, stay away from the freeway 2. It looks fabulous and folds away like a dream, but the controls aaaagh.
1. Press button to move away, wait, wait, wait, at last its moving.
2. Select speed. 5 seems fine. ah no too slow cant keep up with partner.
3. choose speed 6 trolley slows down, now starts to speed up, have now nearly run over playing partner and moving faster than Linford Christie.
4. Select speed 5 again, trolley stops then creeps along again. Partner limps past me rubbing sore ankle leaving me behind. again. TRY THIS FOR 18 HOLES AND THEN TELL ME IT DOES'NT AFFECT YOUR GAME
5. Reached the green, taken out putter, think i'lle send the buggy on to the next tee to save time, Ha Ha Ha. Press control button, hold it down wait, wait, wait, wait, screen changes. index cursor down, 10 20 or 30 yards, select 30 press button and then wait, wait wait. oh look its moving. turn round only to find partner has got so miffed at waiting he's putted out and is allready on next tee.
CONCLUSION. WHY OH WHY DID POWERKADDY MOVE AWAY FROM THE VARIABLE SPEED CONTROL. TURN FORWARD TO GO FASTER, BACKWARD TO GO SLOWER. SO SIMPLE.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
