Product Description

"This is a gorgeous book, just beautiful storytelling, and one of my favorites this year. I’m crossing my fingers for a sequel. Thank you Debra Anastasia, you blew my mind, made my heart pound, brought tears to my eyes, and made me laugh… a lot!"" ~ Rhonda from Sam, Elena, and Rhonda's Awesomeness Book Review Blog 5+ AMAZING STARS!!

"There is plenty of action, suspense, romance and hilarity to be found in Poughkeepsie. Debra Anastasia has outdone herself with her latest novel and as long as she keeps writing like this I will keep reading." ~ Nicole at All I Ever Read Book Review Blog

"All of Anastasia’s characters are both horribly broken and unbelievably strong in their own way. Each one is a different side of the same coin, a paradox. It is the beautiful paradox of good and evil, right and wrong, compassion and revenge that make this one of my favorite books of the year." ~ Autumn at Open Book Society

"I'm telling you Debra Anastasia has become one of my favourite indie authors of 2011, and I know that whatever else she releases in the New Year, will be just as good, just as funny and just as sexy as Crushed Seraphim and Poughkeepsie." ~ Jessica at Book Passion for Life

"This book has the perfect combination of drama and action. Poughkeepsie was written to perfection." ~ Wanda at Good Choice Reading

He counts her smiles every day and night at the train station. And morning and evening, the beautiful commuter acknowledges him—just like she does everyone else on the platform. But Blake Hartt is not like the others . . . he’s homeless. Memories of a broken childhood have robbed him of peace and twisted delusions into his soul. He stays secluded from the sun, sure the world would run from him in the harsh light of day.

Each day, Livia McHugh smiles politely and acknowledges her fellow commuters as she waits for the train to the city. She dismisses this kindness as nothing special, just like her. She’s the same as a million other girls—certainly no one to be cherished. But special or not, she smiles every day, never imagining that someone would rely on the simple gesture as if it were air to breathe.

When the moment comes that Livia must do more than smile, without hesitation she steps into the fray to defend the homeless man. And she's surprised to discover an inexplicable connection with her new friend. After danger subsides, their smiles become conversation. Their words usher in a friendship, which awakens something in each of them. But it’s not long before their bond must prove its strength. Entanglements from the past challenge both their love and their lives.
Blake’s heart beats for Livia’s, even if her hands have to keep its rhythm. Love is patient. Love is kind. Love never fails. Love never fails, right?

In an interwoven tale of unlikely loves and relationships forged by fire, Debra Anastasia takes readers into the darkest corners of human existence, only to show them the radiant power of pure adoration and true sacrifice. Complicated families and confused souls find their way to light in this novel, which manages to be racy, profane, funny, and reverent all at once.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just not for me! 2 Jan 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I had seen many brilliant reviews about this book and bought it for my Kindle. At first it went very well and i enjoyed it but suddenly halfway through it began to feel like i had started a completely different book! I tried several times to get back into the plot but found it impossible. The characters swerved about crazily and what started out being quite an enjoyable read has been dumped, and ime sad to say is the first book i have not finished completely! I couldnt take anymore of the very strange tale that was enfolding, so for me personally it has to go down as probably the worse book ive ever read. Sorry to the author who has no doubt spent hrs writing it and those readers who have enjoyed it, I will always give a personal honest review and sadly this book just wasnt for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 14 Aug 2012
By Vezzy

I had this book on my wish list for sometime and i am now wondering why i didn't buy it sooner.

I laughed, I cried, I held my breathe and in the end I couldn't believe it was over.

This is a story of love, trust, healing and brotherhood.

Debra Anastasia took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. I was hooked from the very first page and hated to put it down!

My suggestion, don't wait as long as i did to take a trip to Poughkeepsie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly brilliant 27 July 2012
By Apryl
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is an unbelievably clever book. I downloaded the novel expecting an easy, soft, romantic story but I was completely blown away by all the twists and turns. The drama and action were just brilliant! I especially love how different types of relationships weren't all squished in to one couple like many angsty novels. Debra Anastasia certainly took her time with each character and let their relationships develop just as they should. I loved the delecacy of Blake and Olivia, the urgency of Kyle and Cole And passionate fury between Beckett and Eve. They gave a great balance to such an unexpected action packed story. It eneded just the way I love a story to end too! Happily. I think I have a lingering crush on Beckett too. Excellent!

4.0 out of 5 stars very graphic book, violent but a love story nonetheless
Started out as what appeared to be a gentle love story, turned out to be a very violent story, but unbelievably still a beautiful and moving tale. Loved it
