My pet peeve is cookbooks with no pics. It is like cooking without salt, pepper and spices and in my
book a major sin committed on the reading public.

This cookbook has some very unusual and original recipes and you should buy it just because
it gives so many different uses for potatoes plus it has great photos and the history of potatoes
and descriptions of different varieties. NICE JOB!

As I was reading the recipes in this book I kept saying to my self, "oh, yumm." There are, without a doubt some interesting recipes in this book that I will soon be making but I will be sure to carefully read it through (usually I leap into a recipe with both feet if it sounds good without reading the instructions all the way through first) before I start. I was reading the Pierogi Casserole recipe and saw that it called for 1/2 lb fusilli or rigatoni past, uncooked. It struck me as an unusual ingredient for a Pierogi anything so I read on. Step 3 says "While the potatoes are cooking, cook pasta al dente. Drain and set aside. This, however, is the last mention of pasta in the instructions. I confess I tend to be a sloppy recipe reader, focusing on the ingredients then sort or punting the rest of the recipe so I re-read the recipe through again and even had my DH read it to see if I missed something. Nope, I hadn't. That said, the Pierogi Casserole recipe sounds yummy without the pasta and I'll probably try it. Just a word to the wise, read these recipes through before you go shopping for ingredients or start making a recipe. You might wind up with an unused bowl of pasta on your counter.

Since I love potatoes and eat them often and cook them often, I decided to search for a new cookbook JUST FOR POTATO RECIPES! This one is just what I was searching for because it has DIFFERENT and less boring recipes than the same old same old worn out potato recipes. Here are just a few recipes in this book that I found SUPERB and so so TASTY:

+ Twice Baked Super Stuffed Cheesy Potatoes - These have a small amount of broccoli in it as well as some red pepper. (I used 1/4 of the broccoli due to IBS and 1/2 less pepper) The recipe still was superb!

+ Slow Cooker Beef Stew with Carrots & Potatoes - This recipe has lots of potatoes in it. And just the right ingredients!

+ Sweet Potato Pancakes - I make this for desserts, it is that good and so different!

+ Bacon Au Gratin Potatoes - This one is SO SO SO GOOD! It has Yukon Gold potatoes in it and this makes all the difference!

This is a wonderful cookbook and I highly recommend it!

Much better than I expected! This book has many recipes that I have tagged to try.

There are no crazy ingredients that you have to go find - you should have everything right in your pantry.

There are some very nice photos of the recipes. Some recipes did not have a finished product photo though and that would've been helpful.

The recipe directions seem clear and concise. Unless you have never cooked before you will easily follow the directions.

I can't wait to try the recipes I've marked...starting tonight!

I recommend this book.
