This lovely little story about a special delivery Pat has to deliver comes with eight magnets (including Postman Pat and Jess, Ted, Ajay, Ben, helicopter, Amy on her pony) which your toddler can place on the right page.
Unlike the Bob the Builder magnet book it doesn't have a mini picture on each page to help your child determine where each magnet goes by herself, instead there is small box that tells you, which you have to read out. But toddlers have amazing memories and after 3 read-throughs my little girl could accurately identify all 8 characters and knew exactly which pages they went on! Quicker than me!
She loves taking all the pieces out of the plastic box, laying them all out neatly on the carpet and then we go through the book page by page putting the magnets on. I read out the story, and also ask her to point to other things on the page like flowers, parcels, fruit, trees, sky. She loves putting all the magnets away in the box afterwards - in fact sometimes she's more interested in putting them in and out of the box than on the pages! She loves carrying them around and fiddling with them, so if you have a toddler who loves handling small objects they will definitely by wowed by magnet books!
I think this book will have longevity as not only is she obsessed with magnet books but later on the story will have more meaning; she's still young! This book would definitely be great from about 14/15 months to beyond three years. I also highly recommend the Bob the Builder book as the magnets in that are are bigger and have more interesting shapes - whereas the Pat ones are all square.
Even so, this is a great buy and I'm looking forward to getting the Timmy the Sheep one as well, to further satisfy Sophia's appetite for magnets!
