'This is an exemplary book... I would recommend it to anyone involved in giving advice to UK students intending to undertake postgraduate study' - ESCalate

This accessible book provides essential guidance for all students who are thinking of studying for a postgraduate qualification in Britain.

Alongside detailed information about the British university system (from the application process to the viva) Nicholas and Rosalind Foskett provide readers with an introduction to other essential pastoral and practical aspects to study in Britain: Immigration regulations; living and working in Britain; cultural mores and expectations of student life; finance and support systems.

Postgraduate Study in the UK: The International Student's Guide is easily accessible and is essential reading for anyone thinking about, or already enrolled on, a postgraduate course in the UK who is less familiar with the unique character of the British HE system and unfamiliar with British culture in general.

I've recently bought a range of books aimed at international students in order to recommend the best during training programmes and this is a clear winner. The style is really straightforward, the excellent advice in each chapter is brought home by a summary of "risks to avoid" at the end and the reader is encouraged to stop and think at regular intervals about how they are going to apply the advice to their own situation. It covers the whole process from the initial investigations into studying for a postgraduate degree in the UK , through to the final thesis and viva and touches on career planning. There is also a lot of advice on the more nitty-gritty elements of moving to the UK which is written in a non-patronising but informative way. Congratulations to the authors - I'll be recommending this book to international research students without hesitation.

This book reads more like a series of blog posts than a book written with adequate research. Although at the end of the book we can see the authors did a lot of research with the list provided, they did not reflect in the writing. Most of the informations are one page or half a page and can easily be founded in the net. Two star because of the questions author asks in every chapter.

Should you buy? Well hope there is an updated edition with better info.
