Legend has it that when Paul Tucker from the Lighthouse Family was recognised at a party by Meg (wife of Noel) Gallagher, her husband followed across the room and castigated him for the frequency with which his wife played his music. Tucker, for his part, has often compared his records to Oasis, and, despite enjoying a fraction of the critical acclaim, he's got a point. Both bands share that knack for songs that resonate in the lives of huge amounts of people.

Unlike 1995's patchy Ocean Rain, Tucker and singer Tunde Baiyewu's second album sees them finding full focus as songwriters. Slick R&B production values underpin the whole exercise, but scratch the surface of songs like "Question Of Faith" and "Sun In The Night" and optimism gives way to something more interesting. A sense not so much that the future might improve, as that to think about better days might make the present more bearable. --Peter Paphides

This album really is full of mellow tunes to listen to. The relaxing music just fills your ears and allows you to do work, fall asleep (hopefully not both together) make love etc.
A great CD overall

If you want to relax, chill out, listen to music while doing something else or simply listen to good music, listen to this! It's also very good for cheering you up, I think. It's not in the same style as their first album but it would be boring if it was. Buy it!

Even after all these years I still love the lighthouse family, although this was their last great album. Their first album, Ocean Drive, was phenomenal, and this is a worthy successor. If you liked Lifted and Ocean Drive then buy this with no hesitation. One of the few artists whose albums aren't padded out with filler tracks, although obviously there are stand-out songs. High could be their greatest song ever, even rivalling Lifted for pure beautiful catchy ballad-pop. Raincloud is also outstanding, as is the album title track and the stunning 'Lost in Space, but every track I could listen to over and over again. It's just a shame I can't say the same about their eagerly awaited but disappointing third album 'Whatever Gets You Through the Day' or Tunde's debut solo album.
This album however is an essential piece of pop history, and even for non-fans is worth buying for the superb 'High' alone.

I loved this album as it's so easy to listen to driving in the car. Tunde has an amazing voice (he can actually sing)compared with alot of singers out there. Shame The Lighthouse Family are no longer together. Definitely worth buying especially if you want to snuggle up close to the one you love.

These songs will take a few sittings to get into your head... and when they do, they're there for good. The grooves are extremely cool and the enjoyment is max. Get this one !
