A good back book when first sold but has become outdated. It's mostly about Gauguin and Van Gogh and very little about neo-impressionism.

Competent with 489 plates, but only 47 in color 8 Jan. 2008
By Eugene Tenenbaum - Published on
Format: Hardcover
The first competent, well written and widely accepted since 1956 history of Post-Impressionism in the 8-year period from 1886 to 1893 constituting the beginning of the movement according to the author who considered it to be a continuation of his History of Impressionism published in 1946. It accurately and in detail describes on c. 600 pages the period lives of many famous Post-Impressionists, as well as depicts their period works on 489 plates including only 47 in color. Quite heavy at over 9.1 x 10.1 x 1.7 inches.
