5.0 out of 5 stars A life changing book for those suffering PTSD !!, 3 April 2001
By A Customer
A brilliant book, very easy to read, concise, and aimed primarily at victims of PTSD. This book along with additional support has helped me recover from PTSD. So that I am no longer a victim, but now a survivor. An invaluable source of information and reference. PTSD is an "invisible injury", as the book quotes, and this book helps to overcome the stigma associated with suffering from PTSD, or any form of depression or anxiety related condition. David`s recent book on childhood PTSD is also an invaluable resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Most Comprehensive and Easy to Understand Texts, 1 Oct 2003

A superb book.
Designed with researchers and patients in mind.
Providing standpoints from victim and colleagues, friends or loved ones. Thus allowing a sufferer to address the issues/symptoms that can be percieved by others as negative, hostile or even anti-establishment.

Allowing a long-term sufferer to the road of recovery and beyond by providing a template to assist educating people around you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very informative, 15 Dec 2008

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
I think this is an excellent book on the very deceptive emotional illness that is PTSD. Written for sufferers by a sufferer ( which in my view lends more credibility to a book ) this book has a natural flow to it and is written in a very readable style. There are no reams of medical details and psychological labels to baffle the reader, just facts simple and straightforward. I found the 11 case studies contained in the book helped to instill a kind of hope in me, the kind of hope that we all need on a daily basis just to keep going. This book is a credit to David Kinchin and it helped me immensely.

For anyone out there that may have PTSD and are wondering are they mad ? what can they do ? Well I would say this: No you're not mad, your body is reacting normally to an abnormal event , seek professional help and cut yourself some slack. Life is hard.Do take care...
