Gotta ask, but is this just Season's 1 to 4 or will this have the 08 Xmas Special and the Planet of the Dead?

Also, is just just the stand alone Season Boxsets in one big box or is the packaging inside different?

This box is available now. It's been produced in order to cash in pre-Christmas. The specials are heavily under wraps so it would be a bit foolish to include them in the box before they've been aired. You can be confident they're not in the box. Whether or not that includes "The Next Doctor" or "Planet of the Dead" is less clear.

It would make sense that this box set would include everything up to and including 'The Next Doctor' - after that special all Doctor Who episodes are in High Def so they need to be released and seen on Blu-ray ideally.

Keith Joseph says:
This all four season set has just the specials between seasons, i.e. the Xmas ones: The Christmas Invasion, The Run-away-Bride, Voyage of the Damned - and it also counts the included children-in-need short: 'Time-Crash' as a 'special' as well. The last episode in this boxed set is Journey's End, the finale of season 4. So no it hasn't got the Xmas 08 special: 'The Next Doctor' [I'd actually forgotten it existed, although I preferred it to 'The Dead Planet'].

'The Next Doctor', 'The Dead Planet', 'The Waters of Mars' and the last two 'End of Time' Xmas 2009/NewYear 2010 specials are in the new 'Dr Who - Complete specials' 5-DVD boxed set [released January 2010], although it's pricey at £28+. We bought it anyway, having saved so much on the 4 seasons set, the combined cost still seemed very good value.
