Product Description

Product Description

The essential introduction to the most important texts in post-colonial theory and criticism, this second edition has been thoroughly revised and updated to include 121 extracts from key works in the field.

Leading, as well as lesser known figures in the fields of writing, theory and criticism contribute to this inspiring body of work that includes sections on Nationalism, Hybridity, Diaspora and Globalization. The Reader’s wide-ranging approach reflects the remarkable diversity of work in the discipline along with the vibrancy of anti-imperialist writing both within and without the metropolitan centres. Covering more debates, topics and critics than any comparable book in its field, The Postcolonial Studies Reader is the ideal starting point for students and issues a potent challenge to the ways in which we think and write about literature and culture.

Literary Criticism 5 Nov 2006
By D. Kirk - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Great Book - Literary Criticism related to the notion of Colonialism - Be warned, this is not a book about Colonialism and texts on that topic, it is a Reader of Literary Criticism based on the writings of colonial, post-colonial and interested writers. The text is heavy and dense and for those without a background in English and Criticism it will be hard going.

Poor Collection 11 Feb 2010
By Tony - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The problem with this collection is that much of it is inaccessible to any one who wants an understanding of post-colonial studies. There is too much jargon and all of the excerpts are presented without any framing context so you are often confused while reading the essays. This is an exceptionally poor selection for students.

very useful for my thesis 15 Dec 2008
By I. Wimboyono - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
this book have helped me to understand keyworks on post-colonialism study. I'm telling ya it's not easy to read, because the font is rather small, nd also because post-colonialism itself hard to study. But it's very usefull to finish my thesis. If only i can read it all.Ha..ha...ha...
