Product Description

Product Description

Getting a baby positioned and attached comfortably at the breast is an art. When all is going well, specific holds and positions don’t really matter because mother and baby will work out what suits them best. However if breastfeeding feels awkward, uncomfortable or downright painful this booklet is designed to help a mother and her supporter make adjustments to get breastfeeding working comfortably and effectively.
Includes sections on using principles of effective positioning and attachment to solve common breastfeeding problems such as sore nipples, blocked ducts, forceful milk flow and low weight gain.
Specially commissioned photographs illustrate the key principles underlying effective positioning and attachment. The booklet includes detailed sections on encouraging a baby to latch on deeply, and key tips for breastfeeding comfortably in laid-back, sitting, standing and side-lying positions.
All proceeds from the sale of this book support the charity La Leche League GB in its work providing information and support to mothers who want to breastfeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great information really well laid out 29 Jan 2014

I love this short leaflet, it sets out what a baby needs to breastfeed well and gives suggestions on how mums can capitalise on these instincts, well illustrated by photos, and supplemented by great links to extra resources. So often breastfeeding basic books preach rules on how to breastfeed, this is one is refreshingly different in its baby led focus. Can't recommend it highly enough.

This is a lovely booklet - it has clear un-clinical language and is full of pictures that are easy to understand, plus some great embedded links to see more about the "what and how".

This booklet is full of up to date information, helpful pictures and descriptions of different breastfeeding positions and useful suggestions for making sure attachment and positioning are working well for Mum and baby. Well worth the price.
For more information about all aspects of breastfeeding nothing beats The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding book but this booklet has the best photos and specific information on positioning I've seen.
