Once again the Insight Guide proves to be the best book to carry with you when travelling abroad. If you want deep, off-piste knowledge, then head for the Rough Guide books, otherwise Insight gives you all the major sights, great maps, and a reasonable amount of local knowledge.

Like all "insight guides" the aim here is precisely what it says, "an insider's guide" aimed at someone willing to learn about thge country, customs and history, food, drink as well as practical tips. It includes handy maps for quick reference or planning, a restaurant guide and stunning photographs to get you in the mood for the trip, quite honestly, in this series I look at the pics and then plan my trips!!
