Book Description

29 Sep 2000 Cadogan Guides
Southern Portugal's lovely year-round holiday hotspot has always been popular, but recently however, it has become fashionable -- in the manner of Provence, Tuscany and the Cote d'Azur -- attracting celebrities such as Brad Pitt and Catherine Zeta Jones. The second edition of Cadogan's best-selling guide contains 25% more information on where to eat and stay, food and wine, flora and fauna, walking and golf. It reveals Moorish ruins, unspoiled beaches, lush valleys, and ancient villages and festivals; while also providing the low-down on more contemporary attractions such as watersports, carnivals, markets and resorts.

About the Author

David Evans roamed Mediterranean Europe, India, Egypt and Southeast Asia before Portugal seduced him. He studied at Eton and read History at Cambridge. He has lived in New York and London on and off since he was a baby, and has worked as a freelance writer on both sides of the Atlantic. In 1994 he donned a voluminous brown habit and became a novice in the Society of St Francis, an Anglican Franciscan order. He enjoys going for walks amongst trees, making soup, and following his curiosity (which is as omnivorous as a Portuguese goat). David is the author of Cadogan's guide to Portugal and the co-author of The Algarve.

Kamin Mohammadi left a revolution in Iran for the chaos of a London childhood, the city where she is still based. After years of a random and freelance lifestyle wandering the Iberian peninsula, she now runs a stable of glossy magazines in London and wears spike heels.
