I love this book. Alastair Sawday's books never fail to set me planning the next holiday knowing with certainty he has already found the best places to stay. Portugal is a gem of a country and staying in a special place makes a holiday. Alastair and his team has already done the groundwork and in my experience, having stayed at a dozen of his recommendations in Portugal, is always spot on.

I am living in Portugal and am a biker. I ride around the rural areas and it is great to have a Especial place to go to to rest weary bones after a long ride. This book has lots of sugestions of little known places, charming, typical, small and welcoming. Still have many left to try out.

It can be hard to review an accommodation guide unless you've tried all the recommended suggestions but with a "brand" like Sawdays you get to know what matters to them and happily that's what matters to me too. As usual this guide provides a range of accommodations to suit most budgets.
Accommodation is an important part of any trip and if it's wrong then your holiday can be spoiled.
I always read as much information as I can before deciding where to stay so devour guides but I find Sawdays information to be reliable and honest and I haven't been let down yet, although I have yet to sample the accommodation chosen from this book.
It's true you can do a lot of research online but a book is so much easier to relax with,and make sure you look for the spoof review in each Sawdays book, a true sign that Sawdays have a heart!
