As I am a big fan of Renee Fleming and Dmitri Hvorostovsky, this DVD was a must-have for me. But it turned out to be beyond my expectations.
I loved the arias, songs and duets, performed superb by both of the singers. My favorite pieces were: the final duet of Eugene Onegin, the duets from Simon Boccanegra and Il Trovatore, Don Juan’s Serenade (a song composed by Tchaikovsky) and Natasha’s aria (Pochudilis mne budto golosa) from Tchaikovsky’s Oprichnik. The arias, songs and duets are performed in three different palaces all in and around St.Petersburg, giving a fairytale touch to the musical pieces.
Apart from the arias, songs and duets performed, Renee Fleming tours us through St.Petersburg and gives us informations about the city. I truly enjoyed this part and I learned a lot of things about St.Petersburg!
In conclusion, I would recommend this DVD to every opera fan and I would definitely watch it again and again!
