Book Description

A sadistic killer has turned Port Sorrow into his personal hunting ground.

Traveling the stripper circuit of small town America, Finn is a female impersonator with a golden voice who never made the big time. His latest stop is Port Sorrow, a rough-and-tumble coastal town on the northern edge of the Olympic Peninsula.
In the audience tonight, rookie deputy sheriff Julia Rusk has drawn the short straw and is scanning the rowdy audience for signs of a suspected serial rapist.
A shotgun blast brings these two strangers together as a young stripper bleeds out on stage.
While Julia tries to find the gunman and prove she's worthy to wear the badge, Finn takes the law into his own hands. Tracking through seedy dockside bars and the hidden world of the homeless, Finn comes to realize just how many lives this killer has touched.
But what neither of them realizes is the killer doesn't work alone, and not even the police can protect them when he finally shows his face.

More About the Author

Born in Scotland, living in Canada and writing U.S.-based fiction, I like to wear a kilt and toque with my six-guns. My debut novel, SWITCH, became an Amazon bestseller in the UK (Bantam Transworld) and Germany (Heyne) and in Canada from Penguin. It is now available for the first time in the U.S. in ebook and 1st edition trade paperback.

My second novel, No Cry for Help, is available from Bantam in the UK and in Germany from Heyne. It is coming to the U.S. and Canada in 2012.

My third novel, originally dubbed too controversial for mainstream publishers, K.A.R.M.A. has just been released as an Amazon E-Book and 1st Edition trade paperback in the U.S., Canada and the UK.

Under the pen name M.C. Grant, I will be releasing a brand new, and very fun mystery series featuring wisecracking, butt-kicking, San Francisco-based reporter Dixie Flynn through the wonderful folk at Midnight Ink. Dixie's first adventure, Angel With A Bullet, launches on Sept. 8, 2012.

My short stories have been featured in Out of the Gutter and Spinetingler magazines, plus the First Thrills anthology edited by Lee Child from Tor/Forge. My first screenplay won a fellowship at the Praxis Centre for Screenwriting in Vancouver, B.C.

As a journalist, I have worked in virtually every area of the newspaper business from the late-night "Dead Body Beat" at a feisty daily tabloid to senior copy/design editor at two of Canada's largest broadsheets. In between regular newspaper gigs, I have also contributed technology/humour columns to various magazines around the world. I currently reside in Victoria, BC, where I am Editor-in-Chief of Monday Magazine.

Another great thriller from Grant McKenzie. As with all of Grant's books the characters are very real and likeable. Fast-paced and gripping from the first page, I couldn't put it down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Port of Sorrow 2 Nov. 2013
By Mags
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Initially I wasn't really taken with this novel, I thought it might be too "light" for my taste.

Boy was I wrong! I soon found myself gripped as the story unfolded, the pace quickened and the plot - riveting - held me and keep me engrossed.

Most of the characters were so horrible I actually shivered while reading them, a testament to the author's great characterization. I did really like main protagonists Finn and Julia tho.

I thought Port of Sorrow was a terrific read and award it 4 Stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am never disappointed!! 10 Feb. 2013

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Another glowing 5 star review for Grant's latest - Port of Sorrow, yet again it's another fast paced page turner from the moment you pick the book up to the very last page, my only disappointment was that I finished it so quickly, all i can say is I can thoroughly recommend all of Grant's books, you won't be disappointed I have read them all. I just have to wait patiently now for my next installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Enjoyable 21 Oct. 2013
By Angie T.D. TOP 1000 REVIEWER

I think this is the first book I've read by this author, and I thought it was great.I did start putting the plot together before the end but still couldn't be totally sure, and it kept me enthralled up to the last page.I would like to see some of these characters again, I know this is a stand alone novel, and it may not be possible to reunite all of the characters but it also seems a shame if some of them are not developed,I don't want to say too much because I don't like spoilers but there are 2 or 3 characters that are too good to not see again ,I think they have great potential, and I thought this book was very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grant Does it Again. 26 Feb. 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I Loved this book. If It had gone any faster I may have got whiplash! I loved it. The Good Characters are fantastic and the BAD ones are so bad it makes you wonder how they got away with it for so long. I Hope there will be more of the fave characters.
Grant did a great job once again.
I personally can't wait for more books and any Crime Fiction Lovers should pass his books on so we get more from him. Word of Mouth is BIG...

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept me awake too late 20 Feb. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Loved this one. It's gruesome and violent so steer clear if thats not your cup of tea but for those of us that like and books with blood and guts its a brilliant read.
Great characters and and a story line with twists and turns that keeps you reading 'just one more page before bed'.
Highly recommended. My only criticism is the many typos 'Cryer or Cryre' and thats down to the publisher I guess. It didnt ruin the story.

plot started well and good atmospheric thriller. Hoping the rest of the book keeps up with the start and have not rated 5 purely because i have not finished it yet.
